It never rains

but it pours. As some of you may recall I was going to stitch the Outlined Angel for my DD for her 60th at the end of November but decided it was too complicated a set of charts to have it done in time so set that aside.
Then we come to the saga of the Christmas Stockings.
I set aside the Dimensions Gold fiddly confetti filled one just recently in favour of doing a more straight forward one for my step great grand-daughter.
This mornings mail has brought me a Wedding Invitation - my sister's only son and therefore my only nephew is getting married in early October back in NZ.
I had already ruled out my annual trip to Perth as it would have been too close to my DD b/day and now this invite - which happens to be the week I would have been in Perth anyway.
I am left shaking my head and wondering if perhaps I have something already stitched which would be suitable for the "happy couple".
Definitely a stitched card will have to be fitted in somewhere.

Cross stitch a quickie Work In Progress message, hint at the dimensions maybe, and give them that! Lord knows a married couple gets inundated with STUFF so to give them a promise for up the road is kind of nice, isn't it?
Just a thought...

What a great idea, Sahari! Or, depending on how much furnishing etc they already have, and how much wall space they are likely to have left, a really personal card may well be all that is needed - the great thing about it (whatever IT is) is that You Made it Especially For Them

Oh my, what a lot you have around the same time Sally. Sahari & Mabel have good ideas as the stitched personal card is something no one else would give them & you could, like Sahari said, give small easier card & tell them they will get something more at Xmas.
What a choice - simple now & something else later on or very personal card straight away. As was said, these days most couples marrying have all they want/need in a home, not like years ago when we had wedding presents which helped us start putting a home together.
Hope deciding doesn't give you too much of a headache! Have some of our

to brighten your day

I think I'd need to lie down in a darkened room with a cold compress before even thinking about making a decision!!

I'm with you there! Often the best solution at times like this is .......
Do Nothing!
Meeting in the Stash & Grab later to discuss over

or perhaps

?

A lot of celebrations ahead, Sally!
I agree with the others. Take a deep breath and the ideas will come soon.

Thank You all for your kind replies. The couple have requested "no presents" and I know from when I met Anne at Grants home that they already were over their limit with furniture etc. Both are late 40's early 50's and it is a 2nd marriage for both of them so I will be on the lookout for a special card to stitch for them. Might ask my sister what both of them enjoy doing together. They live in Christchurch NZ - my home town for 70 years so I rarely see them.
So a special card it is - which is a great relief.

A special card will certainly be appreciated. When my grandson got married I hadn't completed the sampler I am making (since I clearly have been in a stitching drought ) so I gave them a small gift and told them they are getting a special Christmas present this year. Since it doesn't take much to figure out that I'm stitching something for them, they are more than willing to wait. Amazing how many things you have happening at the same time.

So glad it's settled. I do think, however, that it's time you considered hiring a social secretary.

Just read though this & had a giggle too. A social secretary would be a big help as I assume you have lots of family members as well as friends.
That was a big move for you leaving your home country after 70 years to go to Australia.
Look forward to seeing the special card when you find the right design. You must have heaved a big sigh of relief once you knew exactly what to give the happy couple.

Phew Sally, that is a relief not to have another project with a tight timescale.
Great idea to stitch a special card, I look forward to seeing what you decide to stitch.

I am looking forward to finding the right design too Maureen. I will have to spend some time going back through some of the WOCS and see what there is. I have a vague idea of what I want to do but we will see what is available easily.
