For anyone interested in silks,
The Silk Mill (their silks were used for Ethelnute) has 25% off everything tomorrow and Saturday (16th & 17th) only, if you enter the code FIREBALL

*wonders* does that mean I can afford the set of 700 silks now....

Possibly, but even with the big button calculator my budget says "no"

- anyway, there'd be too many shades I'd never use, so better to do a "targeted" buy. I'm putting my list together of useful shades, trying to get runs of 4 or 5 shades of each colour (if that makes sense).
Looking at my list just now I noticed there were far too many greens, so I'll have to go through them and re-balance
My one indulgence into shades that I may never use is their set of "coloured whites" - very very VERY pale green blue pink etc.
Mind you, I do actually have a project in mind for it, involving medieval unicorns...

Of course you "already have a project for them" so those colourful whites are a must aren't they? Enjoy the fun Mabel

They are lovely silks, aren't they? The "Whiter Shade of Pale" set or "Bridal Suite" are really subtle. (All the sets are really interesting, actually; does one need justification? (Yes, probably...)

It's the White Shade of Pale set I'm coveting - I may justify it on the grounds of the sale (spend what I meant to spend originally but get more silks) and on the grounds of the medieval unicorn (who at the moment is still an ordinary polka-dotted horse)

As a medievalist, I concur that these silks would be perfect for unicorns.

At £1400 x 0.75 = £1050 for the complete set, that is a bit on the 'Howww Much!?!?!?!' side of 'No' for me, even with a 25% discount.
With a 90% discount (£140), I may be slightly tempted...
With a 99% discount (£14), I think it would become a 'Definite Maybe'.
They are a thread seller worth remembering, though.
From the Ethelnute embroidery, they look stunning in use.
Regards,
Richard.

This really is a business expense, isn't it? Does that help to justify the cost? I can't think of anyone I know who would use these threads better. I am already looking forward to seeing the unicorn (which most certainly would require using the best silks around).

Exactly. A business expense. Yes. (Carole, you're a genius.)

One of the great features of the forum is how much lovely stash I get to enjoy without having to find the storage space nor pay the price of it. Thank you Mabel!

The range is so comprehensive, I'm seriously tempted to create a 'Thread Definition File' for my charting program. Could be interesting.

Richard.
