shopping in Chicago

Post by cielodirlanda »

Hi everybody,
I shall be in Chicago next week for a few days. It will be my very first visit to the US (I'm Italian) and I wonder if some kind fellow-stitchers could advise me on the best places for cross-stitch shopping. Thanks in advance for your help.

Hello Lizzy, thanks for your welcome. I'll do my very best, as far as the weight allowance for my luggage will allow me to go (not to mention the limits on my credit card! ) :)

Lucky you! I'm not familiar with Chicago, but I hope you'll find some lovely shops.

On a separate note, if you're going to San Francisco, be sure not only to wear some flowers in your hair (does this date me terribly :-)?) but also to nip over the bridge to Alameda to visit Needle in a Haystack -- they are always cheerful and helpful over the phone, and any shop that says on its website "You are always welcome to stop by the shop anytime, share a pot of tea with us and sit and stitch a while" is surely worth a visit!

(It's the pictures on this page that get me drooling every time...)
