Hello Friends,

I am in desperate need for help.
guess what..........I am badly stuck in the start itself.
I couldnt do the stitiching because I didnt know which kind of frame to use to hold the cloth firm. please suggest me. I have gone thru sites but didnt get any help. I have bought designs of various sizes so......pls pls pls............!!!

If I use a circular one wont my work get spoilt????

Last question first an SAL is Stitch-A-Long which we have a whole Section for our members to show what they are doing and to get encouragement.

As for frames there are many out there and each one has it's good and bad.

I used circle frames for years and years and never a problemm i still use them for some projects just because. They are good because I like my frames very tight and they do hold tight. I discovered Q-snap frames and fell in love with them because they also hold tight but you can move them if needed for a bit of a loose fit. They are also very versitile in different sizes and mixing and matching to create just the right size and shape to stitch with. Then the scroll frames they are good for larger projects and if you use a stand, but for me they are not good because they leave the sides loose and I just can't deal with floppy edges.

You can use whatever frame you're most comfortable with so long as you don't leave the fabric in the frame when you're not stitching - take it out whenever you're done so that fabric doesn't get marked.

Personally, I'm really liking my new Q-snap frame - I'd only ever used traditional hoops before now, but the Q-Snap hasn't been leaving any marks at all when I remove it from the frame - and I don't have to spend extra time re-adjusting the fabric and tightening the frame all the time like I do with a hoop - I pop it in and stitch away till I'm done. What a great invention!

I had always used hoops in various sizes and yes you should remove the stitching as it can mark the fabric but I think the plastitc ones are a bit better

I have recently bought an 8" qsnap frame which is light weight plastic and I love it, I will in time get a larger one so I can mix and match the sizes. I only use hoops now for small projects. You can get Qsnap in different sizes starting at about 6" (I don't think you can inter change the 6" ones)

no marks. i sing their praises and have been stitching for 15+ years!
I have found them awhile ago and did start w/ hoops. I'll never use anything but qsnaps since I found them!!

FYI - you can interchange even the 6" ones! I recently purchased a 6" and an 11", which I currently have mixed to make the perfect rectangle for the lily I'm currently whipping through, and I'm totally loving the Q-snaps!!

in the uk theres a similar product however the 6" is not interchangable

When it comes to hoops, I definitely prefer the rubber slip-on ones as you get a nice, taut fabric without having to tighten anything. I use a small one of these for my small projects that are too little for my Q-Snap frame.

On my afghan I am using a wooden hoop as it has to go over previous stiched work on two sides and it just provides that bit of give and still keeps my cloth taught.

I am a mix too of q snaps and wooden hoops. The wooden hoops do leave a shape imprint in your fabric but it does iron out and when it is stretched/laced for framing that pulls the mark out completely.
