No Peeking

While I'm still thinking about what method to take to stop my Luguna from fraying and as it's fraying very easily I'm too still to do any more gridding in case I'll be left with a strip.

So I thought while I'm wasting time, I make a wee start on this which I did since Monday. This is what I call my flitting project for the moments when the HAED is doing my nut in or when I'm bored with it. The finished product will look like this.

I woul fold the edge of the fabric over and zigzag it on the sewing machine.

Love the snowman, watch it or Rose will be after it.

I just tape off the edges. Kind of like a tape border. :)

Cute snowman! Nice bright colours too.

I'm using Lugana for my HAED and I discovered that dabbing PVA craft glue around the edges works a treat - I just carefully stroked it over about 2mm of the fabric all round the edge with the end of my finger (although I'm sure a brush would do the job better, I just couldn't be bothered to look for one). I did one edge at a time and draped it over the back of a chair for a couple of hours so it didn't stick to anything, then did another edge. The fibres at the edge of the fabric then turn stiff when it's dry and don't fray at all.

I thought I was doing so well and was so happy that I have just a lot done until I went back to fill in the inside of the border so to speak when I realised I was one stitch out. :x So I have to frog all or most of the red border. Now I have to be so careful not to tear any of the threads.. Now I hope I haven't made any more mistakes.

The HAED I'm going to do is Bless Our Heavenly Home and I'm gridding. I'm finding it hard going - all them wee holes.. But I'm hoping to get started this weekend and I should have something to show after my week off next week.

My huge mistake

Close up. If you look closely you can see the coming on of the wee house.

Another update. :D. Coming along real well and all. 8)

I was thinking of washing my Ed cross stitch and was wondering if it's ok to hang the stitching out on the line to dry if this nice weather keeps. I'm worried that the sun might bleach the stitching.
