I have an issue, my fantastically easy to use desk lamp I was using for my stitching, well i was just adjusting the light as I was moving, next thing I grabbed the extendable handle and pulled, yep you guessed it.... it all pulled out and no lamp. I know stupid hey.

But now I don't know what sort to get, I really want one that doesn't get to hot, and gives a good light. Just wondering what type everyone else uses/likes/recommends. The thing is I'm not sure if I should go out and buy a good quality one that will last or else go for the cheapies again. the other one was an ikea special only about $10 and was really good. Trouble is ikea don't stock them any more.

This is the one I have and it was a bit pricey but here it is 4 years later and going strong.

Mine was £50 reduced to £20 not used it much tho and can't remember what makeit is either so I'm not much help i'm afraid

I don't have a special light as we have a shortage of sockets. Can not put any more in as the person who had the house before us did a bit of a bad job on some of wireing. That aside I did invest in tall table lamps that throw the light onto my work.

I use a Mighty Bright clip on lamp, I protect the fabric with some muslin round the clip though.

You've reminded me though I want my floor lamp back from my old flatmate!

Mine is like Roses,but from SewandSo they also do one that sits on a desk.Hobbycraft do something similar i think.

Me too, I recently upgraded my single bulb Mighty Bright I've had for 4 years now to the double bulb Mighty Bright Light, as I was getting fed up of buying AAA batteries all the time. This new one is purple (yay!) and has the option of batteries or plugging it into the mains, has quite a long cord too. I love it, it is never hot, the light is brilliant (literally) and the clip I use to keep my pattern in one place on top of my frame. I bought mine from Sew and So for about £15 and - am very very happy with it.

I use a cheap light from wal-mart. It was about 20$ Canadian and it is extremely bright. Not as positionable as I'd like, but good for the price.

I managed to find a Sew and So adjustable spring loaded lamp (I can' remember its exact name) in Lincraft one day while looking for more black dmc, was on stocktake sale at half price so I grabbed it for $30 AUS, very happy it moves wherever I want it to and has a built in maginer glass so all happy

Lincraft.... Spotlight... *sigh* I do miss them both soooo much now I live here in England, I hve to completely rely on internet now. So pleased you managed to get such a good bargin!
