Hi guys! I wanted a place where I could blather about my current project without boring my poor husband to tears.
Here's the original photo that the pattern is based off of:
All of my progress pics so far are
here on flickr but I'll start posting some of the more interesting ones here too.
My Stitchtastic pattern looks like this -- I don't think this is a copyright problem since it's my photo and you can't read the pattern at this size anyway, but I can take it down if needed...
Here's a random close up from earlier in the project:
And here's what it looks like as of last night. I'm finally starting on my own head!
I've been working on it since October 28, 2009 with about two weeks' break to go on vacation for Thanksgiving. I couldn't take this one on the plane with me, so I brought a small project on that trip and then took an extra week to finish it.
I'm doing 10x10 blocks but so far I haven't seen the grid patterns that I've read about. Fingers crossed!
It's Aida 14 fabric, DMC floss (using 3 plies), 24ga needle.

Wow this is super!!!!!!
You are right, the copyright is not a problem as this is your picture and your pattern. It is going to be great.

That is brilliant!! I've been too scared to try a project from a photo of people, as I'd no idea how it would turn out – I think I might give it a go now, after seeing yours!!
Do you mind me asking what size it is and how many colours are in the project, to give me an idea of what to expect?!!

Wonderful work and what a special project this is, your own wedding, your own design, your own stitching!

Thanks, guys!
ali-cat, the finished piece will be about 12" tall by 9" wide (I think!). It has 32 colors in it but sometimes it feels like all 32 are in the same 10x10 grid.

Lots of confetti!

Looks terrific and the coverage is just perfect! (I'm a big fan of using 3 strands!)

Hubby was off playing hockey all night last night, so I got an uninterrupted evening to watch stupid movies and stitch!
I did 200 new stitches to finish off another column, plus I went back to rip out and redo six older stitches that had been bothering me.
I don't know why my camera is making the work look so washed out; it's making me nuts. The stitching doesn't look that "pixellated" in real life.

Camers do that none of us are ever very happy with the colors or quality of our pictures. They are always better in real life.
Your picture is looking very good though, well done!!!!

Yeah my pictures always come out looking blurry
Your work is coming on really well, and you get to stitch
yourself soon, how weird is that?!

I know! It was weird enough sticking a needle through hubby's eyeballs.
