Ely's Dimensions WIP - Finished on pg. 3

I just joined, and I'm really new to the hobby. I'm still working on my first project, although I'm very close to finishing. I've finished the actual cross stitching, and I'm almost done with the half cross stitching. After that I just have some back stitching, couching, and cording, which kind of scares me. XD Here's a picture of what I have so far.
I apologize for the hoop marks.

I want to get a frame to stop that, but I don't know much about them.
See the finished picture on page three.

This is looking great and your first project too
Don't worry about the hoop mark I get them all the time but if you wash it and press it on the wrong side while it is still damp (best to put a light coloured towel down on the ironing board first) the hoop marks will disappear and the stitching will look great too, hope this helps.

Ohohoh I knew it would look amazing! And it so totally does! I have the family one Dimensions do and absolutely can't wait to get started on it. I've not seen this one before though. So lovely!
Don't worry about the speciality stitches, if you ever need any help, just ask. I'm sure you'll get a plethora of advice on them and they won't seem so bad afterwards. I must say, I'm really impressed that you chose such a design as your first one. I did like a 3" one with only cross stitch and backstitch. And I was only three lines into it when I came crawling for advice

So you're doing so much better than I did!
As for the hoop marks, don't worry about them. Once you've finished your design, if you put it between two towels and iron it, they should come out. I've heard that tissue paper between the hoop and the fabric works, but I'm not convinced.

Thanks guys! n.n My mom used to do a lot of cross stitching back in the day, so she was able to help me with the basics like cross and back stitching

Hi there! this is looking wonderful.
I wrap my wooden hoops with bias tape, and that helps minimise marking as well as helping to hold the fabric really tight. It is the council of perfection, as they say, but when you have a spare moment... (unlikely, you young thing!) Also, remember to take the hoop off when you finish a stitching session. Religiously! Makes a big difference.

Very nice work!

Don't worry about the hoop marks. I agreed with the comments regarding how to get rid of the hoop marks. I use scroll frames when stitching since it is easier on my hands ...

Angel hates taking the hoops off, she spends fifteen minutes bribing and cursing the things whever she puts them back on

Angel, I'm right there with you.

My mother's old hoop gives me quite a bit of trouble sometimes. I have to make sure the fabric is in there really tight or else the ring pops off and hits me in the face.
You guys have inspired me, I'm making really good progress on it! I finished the back stitching on the big characters and I've gotten three more of the little characters stitched in.

I just finished all the half cross stitches, so now all I have left is a bit of backstitching and the couching and cording. I'm hoping to finish it up tomorrow since I have so much time.

I'll take pictures if I finish.
My daddy's gonna take me to the craft store tomorrow morning to get a q snap and some needles. >w<

Great project. It sounds like you have made a lot more progress also.
You will love the q-snaps they are the best thing to happen to cross stitch since it was invented.

It hits you in the face? Now that's one naughty hoop! Mine aren't quite so misbehaved, but I just can't do the screw that keeps them tight. And I'm always asking but what's a q-snap? I think this may be the way to go.
Ooooh you've got so much more done. It'll almost be time for the finished picture!
