This is my next project after Snow White, its also for my daughter but I'm going to add her details at the bottom and kind of turn it into a birth sampler for her?! hopefully it will work out ok??

This is the picture of what it should look like:

I really like this design because it's so simple and as its going to be my daughters (hopefully for a long time) I think its kind of timeless..... until she hits her teens at least :)

This is where I am now:

I did start this about 2 weeks ago but the first stitches of tree where a nightmare after 2 nights stitching (approx 6 hours worth) I ended up with less stitches in because of having to rip a load of stitches out twice because of a single miscounted stitch. So I ended up getting really fed up with it and I put it down for a while before I lost the will to stitch it.

Its stitched on a light blue sparkly fabric (14ct) which is gorgeous and I love stitching on it..... but as the actual threads are not sparkly I want to make the fairy wings with a bit of sparkle, so if anyone had any recommendations for something I could use I would be very grateful......I've not stitched with sparkly stuff before and I have no idea what would be suitable....... Thanks :)

Heidi

It's a lovely design. It sould be nice toadd some sparkle to the wings, I add a strand of Kreinik Blending filament (it comes in many shades, also a white iridescent one that complements the Aida sparkles perfectly) to the two strands of recommended floss.
It's a very fine thread so it won't bulk your stitches.

Great start! I love the sparkly fabric. I haven't used it yet. Your daughter will treasure this always. It's a lovely design.

Lovely design and fabric. I do like the idea of making the wings sparkly too - how about adding some Kreinik blending filament with the floss, or replace the floss with Kreinik #4 very fine braid. No. 32 (used in a lot of HAED charts) would look good as wings.

Oooh, it's lovely!! I absolutely agree with your idea to add some bling to the fairy wings, and would also suggest Kreinik blending filament. It comes in lots of colours, Pearl 032 would look good perhaps?

Anyway, great start! :applesauce: :applesauce:

The wings are cross stitched and backstitched (the other reason I like this design is because of the little backstitching :) ) so when I get the Kreinik blending filament would I use it with the cross stitch, backstitch or both?? also I would like to add a bit of sparkle to the wand which is stitched in a yellow?? would the blending filament be used for this to or would I need to get a different colour?!
Sorry for all the questions but as I can't get to a craft shop to look at the threads in person (and the local hobbycraft doesn't sell kreinik, or anything like it??? I think) and its difficult to make a choice online looking at photos??
Thanks loads for all your help :)

Heidi, I would add a single strand of the blending filament with your two strands of cotton for the cross stitching. Personally, I'd not bother with blending filament with the backstitch.

As for whether you can use it for the wand too, it depends which colour you buy. If it's a neutral colour you may well be able to use it for both wings and wand. A gold (or yellow #28?) blending filament would look really good with the wand if your budget allowed.

I think Sew and So carry a wider range of Kreinik threads btw.

I use Krenik all of the time as the angels all call for the Krenik blending filament.

FYI
001=true Silver
002=true gold
025=gun-metal grey
028=yellow gold
091=bright yellow
032 pearl

If you are just looking to add some sparkle to the color you are stitching with the the pearl is the way to go. It blends well with the thread but does not add any color just sparkle.

If you are looking to add to the color as well as add sparkle then you can go for the golds or silvers. They will add to the color of the thread by helping enhance the color as well as adding sparkle.

There are also confetti colors and they are really fun to play with.
041= Candy Confetti

:dance: What a very sweet design!! You are making fabulous progress on it and I agree, the 032 pearl would be perfect to add for the wings :dance:
