Since I started trying hardanger work, one of my stitching ambitions has been to work on a Judy Dixon design. I thought it would be a lot longer before I could attempt one, but I found a "class" from Classic Stitches magazine and couldn't believe it when I saw the class was actually one of her designs. I signed up immediately (of course

) and have been amazed at how fast it has been stitching up so far. My DH has been away with my camera all week, so at last I can show you a photo
The threads are lovely - Gloriana silk, Kreinik silk mori, Petite treasure braid metallic and DMC perle, worked on 28 count Jobelan. It's the first time I've used treasure braid and silk mori and I've been delighted with both. The silk mori is so soft (but it does tend to catch very easily - especially on my rough hands

).
The only disappointing thing so far is the "online class". It would have been better described as a very detailed pdf chart. As far as I can see there's no online or class aspects to it at all. But that's only minor - I am thoroughly enjoying this project.

It's certainly looking beautiful -- the special threads are working their magic and so is your stitching! Silk mori is a lovely thread but I've heard that it's going to be discontinued

-- fortunately there are lots of lovely silks still out there!
Shame that it's not really a "class" as such, but the result is still gorgeous!

Susan, it's beautiful! Such pretty colors. I've never worked with silks before, but I can imagine how nice and soft they must be.

Oh, this is so fantastic! I love Hardanger, but unfortunately I never tried it, I'm kind of scared of it. Now you make want to try it. I also believe that if I may ever be able to master such a lovely stitchery, I'd never turn back to cross stitch anymore!
I'm waiting for your next update, congratulations on your work so far!

I've been stitching klusters of klosters all morning

I think I'll probably dream about them tonight!
Midge, it'll be about 18cm square when finished. Please all of you out there saying you would love to try this - do!! Honestly if you are happy stitching on evenweave you can stitch hardanger. It just needs a bit of patience and accurate counting, but it's really not difficult (and very enjoyable

)
