SQ Sunday Afternoon - update 22/05/12

Post by Lessa54 »

A new project - I blame all of you for getting me onto more than one at a time

This one is a copy of the Seurat painting Sunday on the Island of La Grande Jatte. Here's what it will look like

Image

So far I've sorted my threads - all 130 colours

This will be quite a challenge! Just sorting 130 threads would do me in. That's why I usually don't buy kits - only patterns.

It's quite a good picture of the time -- really shows the fashion: bustles everywhere!!

Which one have you bought? I haven't dared count the number of solids versus blends but it's something similar with this one. I've done about the first 40 stitches and yet to encounter a solid colour. This project could take a while :D I'll put a photo up once I've done a little more....

 I think Mirandas enough for me.

I cant get in in my head how to sort the threads out as mine are all on bobbins. I dont know whether to pair all the blends and put them on cards but then I dont know how much thread I need or just blend as i go :? Ill see how yours goes I think  Look forward to seeing an update pic.

As this is an adorable painting, it will certainly make an adorable stitch! I would go crazy with all those colours to sort, but the more the colours, the more stunning the effect, so it will be worth all the effort!

I use bobbins too and I'm working on my first Teresa Wentzler, with lots of blending. I haven't blended anything in advance, so when I do blend two colours, I'm using a card for the blended threads only. If I use only half the length of blended threads, for example, I put the rest on the card, with the symbol. That way I can use the rest it later on. Hope that makes sense.

I have always loved this painting. I remember first saw a copy of it in my college art appreciation class. Where did you find a cross-stitch pattern for it?
