I had a quick question for all you Q-snap users out there. I have a piece of fabric measuring 18" by 14". Will a 17" by 11" size Q-snap frame be able to hold this fabric, or would it be too big? My intent is to leave the fabric on the q-snap frame for the entirety of the project. The finished size of the project is 14" by 10".

It might be a little too big -- it'll definitely hold the fabric, but you'll probably spend a lot of time "tightening" the snap pieces on the Q snap. I'm working on a project right now where there's only about 1" of extra fabric on either side of the Q-snap and the fabric loosens up in the frame pretty easily. It's definitely do-able but it's a little annoying.

I agree, it would be doable but could get bothersome--I'm working on a large project stitched area of about 18 by 12 inches and using an 11 inch qsnap frame on it--just have to roll up the extra fabric and move the frame as needed
I also use one of these to help hold the extra fabric and keep it clean while stitching

Thanks for the input, guys. I guess I will purchase a smaller frame and move around as needed then. It would be a hassle having to tighten and re-tighten the fabric all the time given the smaller fabric allowance on the longer on the shorter ends. It would have been lovely if the q-snaps held the project taut for the entirety of the project.

So smaller q-snap for a larger project means less time re tightening?

okay so thought I would post my question to this thread...Blah what do I do?? I am not crafty enough to make the covers and don't know if I can justify another purchase so close to my bday LOL
any suggestions

Plus its not a "Q snap" its the hobby lobby's version and its an 11x11 (i think) q snaps from what i have seen aren't perfect squares so the purchased covers won't work...

never mind I figured it out. I folded it all up and then clamped them back on...but my qsnap made a snapping noise these aren't brand name and are all plastic and have a seperate corner joint.... are the qsnaps metal??

I do have the actual Q Snap brand. Mine are plastic/ PVC and they come apart in sort of the middle of the arm. And mine snap when you put the plastic cover on. The blue thingys might be too big to work with now.. I use it because my covers have stretched a bit so the blue helps grip.. but your snaps are new so you shouldnt have have that problem just yet. I have had mine for at least 5 years now.

And Nordic Needle sells Q Snap covers in just about any size you need. Someone just makes them up, they are not "official" Q Snap accessories. Right now, 11x11 is $6.

it was more of a crackling snapping noise..lol

I don't have the covers but what I use are binder clips. They come in many different sives I have 3 sizes that I use depending on how much material is left over.
