HAED~SHH Now~ update 22/7 in 1st post

Hey Folks
Thanks for reading
I havent done any cross stitch for the last couple of years but decided to get back on the aida. I previously did a few samplers and Winnie Pooh designs but nothing massive or complicated. So to make things easy

for myself I decided to tackle a HAED

Following a link on this site to HAED I spent a few days falling in love with loads of the charts there. I narrowed it down to 2 and eventually decided to download both I am starting with a striking black and grey piece and although I adore the other choice I was a bit daunted at the thought of 90 colours so it will remain in the drawer for now.
This is my new baby ~

I am stitching on 18ct aida and doing 2 over 1 full crosses.

Update 22/7/2010

That's a really nice design! It feels good to get back into stitching after a long break, doesn't it? I'm looking forward to seeing your progress pics on this!

Thanks for the support folks - I really appreciate it.
I have am over 900 stitches now still all in white! Of the 115200 stitches in this chart almost half are white so I am plan to do white in bulk every couple of days. I want to get a bit of colour today - well one of my 12 greys - so I try to get a photo posted at the end of the day.
Its looking a wee bit strange as I am using magic aida its marked into 10x10 grid which is making stitching easier to plan but I need a bit of reassurance that the lines will disappear when I wash at the end.

Oops forgot to mention the other chart I have is Forget me not QS by Rachel Anderson
http://heavenandearthdesigns.com/bmz_ca ... 91x600.jpg
So stunning, I just adore her. I did plan to start it first as its a QS but the complexity of colours was a bit daunting for my first return project. Since reading other S-A-L threads I think I might actually try her on Laguna 25ct using tent stitch. I was unsure of the coverage it would give but Sarah's Bubble Telescope has convinced me to give it a go.

I love your design
I used the Magic aida on my HAED and found that you have to give it a really good soaking to get the lines out. Firstly I just gave mine a quick swish in warm water and fairy and a good rinsing and the lines did go paler so I wasnt bothered as it was an all over design but later on with it being wet the lines began to bleed and started to show through the white stitching so I had to soak it again and swish it about a lot more to get shut of them. Once the lines went it dried perfectly and it is a great fabric to work on. DMC do advise a warm machine wash to remove the lines but I'm a wimp

This is a lovely choice - looking forward to some photos! I don't envy you all that white on white - it reminds me of one I did about 18 months ago that required loads of black on black (shudder). Hahaha.
Your other design that you chose is very pretty too. HAED is such an addictive site, isn't it? There are so many designs on there I want to stitch!
