Flower Thread Floral Afghan (9/2/10)

This is the afghan I started 19 years ago. It was a series from Cross Stitch Sampler magazine introducing the new DMC Flower Thread in 1991. I stitched the first square at that time and then things happened (house fire, divorce) and I let my much-loved hobby fall to the wayside. In 2002, I decided to pick it up again only to find out that the thread had been discontinued. Thanks to ebay, I was able to find all the colors I needed to complete the thing. Here's the first square, geraniums in a clay pot.
I'll get a picture up of the second square, a basket of impatiens, in the next couple of days. All I have to show for it right now in a lot of brown for the basket!

Its really gorgeous and such a vibrant colour too. Looking forward to seeing the next square done.
I was very tempted with an afghan from Stoney Creek but finally decided against it - too much other stuff on the go.

There are 15 squares including a personalization square. The finished afghan can be seen here (about 1/3rd of the way down):
