Question about floss color on HAED chart...

Post by mommy_tl »

I'm going floss shopping for my first HAED chart soon, and am stumped on one of the colors listed....

Type - # - Color
DMC - 032 - Krenik #4

That's how it's listed... so, is it krenik blending filament (#4) 032?

The design is "Storykeeper"

It just means very fine braid. Here is a colour chart http://www.sewandso.co.uk/ran505-0.html" target="_blank

It is thicker than BF and you use it alone in the needle.

It is krenik color 032 but I am substituting rainbow galleries petite treasure braid 10 for the krenik and really like how it works up. It is a little harder to find and more expensive but after alot of research it seems like the PTB is more user friendly.

I like PTB too, and if you compare how much is on a card, actually PTB works out cheaper. Cheapest you can get it in the UK is from Blue Groove Racing at £2.75, or US from Stitching Bits and Bobs for $2.75

thanks everyone for your help... one more little question... do you prefer to use 2 strands of dmc floss or just one? I've never done much on evenweave.... so I'm not sure if 2 will be too much :)

What count fabric are you using? I don't do HAED's, but I think it is personal preference and depends also on the fabric choice.

Some of our HAED cases will be able to help you.

Depnds on the count of the fabric for me. I am doing several HAED'S I have one that is 18 count and am using 2 strands. The ones I am doing 22 count and 25 count I am using one strand the coverage is good using one but be careful when using black sometimes the fabby shows through

Great that someone asked this question already! My Floatilla HAED requires DMC 032 Kreinik #4 so now I know what it is!

As for strands of floss - I'm stitching mine on 25 count evenweave and I'm using 2 strands over 1 in tent stitch if that's any help.

So, last question... hopefully. Is there an easy way to figure out where to start (on the fabric) other than counting every single row?

I start from the corner when kitting out my own charts, but from the center when working from kits, to find the centre I just fold the fabric in half lengthways, then in half widthways. Where the creases cross is the centre.

I generally start in the middle by doing the method mentioned above. However, with the latest project I am working on, the middle would have been in a large white area (Santa with an apron on) and I try to stitch white last. So on this one, I had to move my center area a bit and start in a different area.

Yeah, I usually start in the middle too... but with the chart in booklet form I'm afraid to pick the wrong stitch to start with. I've noticed some stitchers on here have started their HAED projects from the first page (top left corner)... I was wondering if there might be an easy way of starting like that :)

On my HAED I started on the top left corner, but I gridded my fabric first and in doing that I started from the centre and counted out (that way I didn't run out of fabric on any one side!)
