Re: Everything Computers Bingo-9th days #'s:
Thursday & we have some REALLY CLOSE! Here are the 10th days #’s:
22 Rollerball mouse
My DH introduced me to these computer parts many years ago. If you’re not used to them, they WILL drive you batty! I guess he likes them for his gaming…I like them because there’s less stress on my wrist (I move the ball with my thumb rather than the whole mouse with my hand)
27 Thumb drive
Ok, technically it is called a USB flash drive….but we all know that we call it a thumb drive!
Again, taken from Wikipedia:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thumb_drive" target="_blank
A USB flash drive is a data storage device that includes flash memory with an integrated Universal Serial Bus (USB) interface. USB flash drives are typically removable and rewritable, and physically much smaller than a floppy disk. Most weigh less than 30 g. As of September 2011 drives of up to 256 gigabytes (GB) are available. Storage capacities as large as 2 terabytes are planned, with steady improvements in size and price per capacity expected. Some allow up to 100,000 write/erase cycles, depending on the exact type of memory chip used, and a 10 year shelf storage time.

It's getting close, I'm now on nine.
What numbers will come next?
Good luck to all who need a few

5 Bomba (cryptography)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bomba_(cryptography" target="_blank)
The bomba, or bomba kryptologiczna (Polish for "bomb" or "cryptologic bomb") was a special-purpose machine designed about October 1938 by Polish Cipher Bureau cryptologist Marian Rejewski to break German Enigma-machine ciphers.---
---How the machine came to be called a "bomb" has been an object of fascination and speculation. One theory, most likely apocryphal, originated with Polish engineer and army officer Tadeusz Lisicki (who knew Rejewski and his colleague Henryk Zygalski in wartime Britain but was never associated with the Cipher Bureau). He claimed that Jerzy Różycki (the youngest of the three Enigma cryptologists, and who had died in a Mediterranean passenger-ship sinking in January 1942) named the "bomb" after an ice-cream dessert of that name. This story seems implausible. Rejewski himself stated that the device had been dubbed a "bomb" "for lack of a better idea." Perhaps the most credible explanation is given by a Cipher Bureau technician, Czesław Betlewski: workers at B.S.-4, the Cipher Bureau's German section, christened the machine a "bomb" (also, alternatively, a "washing machine" or a "mangle") because of the characteristic muffled noise that it produced when operating.

This is an EXCELLENT resource for the geeks (& even us non-geeks) among us! My own DH looks forward to receiving his new issue each month. I particularly enjoy the dry humor used by many of the journalists & can always learn something when I flip through it.
