TW Camelot Sampler- 15 May update

Post by msufly »

I've been working on Teresa Wentzler's Camelot Sampler for a week now. Her borders are always very detailed and I was not going to leave the border for last thing like I did with The Guardian as it gets rather tedious. First, here's a pic of all the floss used, there's 94 colors including the perle cotton, and of course being a TW piece, most of them are used as blended colors. I'm stitching this on 28 ct antique white evenweave.

And here's my progress after a week:

A side view of the border:

The outermost border has b/s around each individual X. There's an outer & inner border of 4-sided (square) stitch in the ecru perle cotton (size 12). The twisted vine border has over 1 and over 2 parts. Gold Mill Hill beads will go in the center of each blue & pink flower. And the inner most border is a wrapped backstitch using 3 strands: use 2 for the straight b/s then use the third to wrap around each stitch, keeping floss and needle on the top of the work.

I forgot to include a picture of what the finished piece will look like! I originally posted a pic of it in the Stitching From Stash thread.

Great job in a week! That's a lot done in a week on 28 count. It's a great sampler showing what the finished work would be done. Looking forward to the progress in another week.

That's looking beautiful. I think Teresa Wentzler is one of the most challenging of all cross stitch designers. :applesauce:

That's gorgeous, wish I had the patience for all the blended colours, I did a mini TW kit last year and found it frustrating but I think mainly due to having to work out which colour was which etc, I'd probably get on better with a chart only. That border looks fantastic :)

WOW. Your stitching is impeccable. I admire your tenacity with doing another TW design after the guardian. I love this design, it would go perfect with all my other dragons and wizards. Can't wait to see the updates as they come.

Progress after week 2 below...I had a lot less time to stitch this past week because of my volunteer work as a horse show secretary...had to get the first show of the season all set up on the program we use (which had issues). Regardless, I'm still pretty happy with my progress on this piece since the castle medallion in the center has so much confetti. Part of Camelot castle is visible!
