Re: Overlook Cafe Dimensions Gold as at end of day 2nd March

Thank you both. The colours are a bit deeper than on the first picture but as you said Wendy, not as bright as on the kit photo. There is a brighter turquoise for the lake but I do not thank it will be garish. Won't know until I stitch a bit tho. Have been tempted to try a few stitches but will do a bit more of this side first before going to the other side as I know where I am going at the moment :)

Thank you all for your lovely comments. This is an interesting project to do as so many full & half stitches, different numbers of strands & blends of thread.

I am going to log off now & will see you all in a couple of weeks time. Need to put my laptop to bed for some R&R, just what DH & I could do with  but only one more sleep & it will all be over

Take care all of you & keep safe until I'm back & keep stitching :D

Thank you all for your lovely comments. I could not relax when we moved. Got fed up with word puzzle book, couldn't settle to read & not on internet so unable to use laptop. Also as it was cold the first week I could only knit a couple of rows before I had to stop. Really missed not being able to check things on my laptop. Felt like climbing the walls as I do not like sitting with idle hands so got this out again on the Tuesday after the move. Felt it was right for me at that time altho it may not have suited others in the same situation. Made sure I did everything slowly first few nights as I did not want not mess it up. Thought if I found I could not concentrate properly I would leave it for another few days then pick it again but luckily I was OK.

I was surprised how much I had done when I looked at previous update but many of the stitches are half cross stitch as I am sure I have done many more of those than full crosses. So when I stitch for 2 hours I will cover an area twice as large as if it had been full crosses; therefore 2 hours of half crosses is equivalent to 4 hours of full ones.

I have done mostly half stitches again tonight so if anyone is thinking of doing this & is concerned about so many colours & strand variations, once you start getting used to the different combinations of threads used, it does stitch up quickly. The oyster, camel, light brown & variegated green areas are all half crosses. The hardest bit is when doing several 4 strand stitches - oyster & camel on cafe building. The green top right is 3 strands, 2 yellow green & one turquoise & this combination is easier to stitch. I got so engrossed in it a few nights that I forgot the time & did almost 3 hours those nights.

Thanks for looking :D

Latest pic. Sky all half x stitch as are trees on right. Sky is v. bright turquoise, feel I need sunglasses! More on other half of project. Bit on sky but quite a lot in the lake. OK on a kingfisher but not really for scenery.

The move is catching up with me so need more gentle colours at the moment. DH & I very tired this week. Keep getting drowsy & nodding off. Oh well, we are retired so nothing urgent except food & drink

Will put this aside for a while & start another garden with a lot of ordinary greenery, flower bed, rambling flowers round door & up towards the roof, cane table & chairs plus lacy tablecloth. Just like a garden I would wish to have if I lived in a big old house :D

Not surprising you are both tired and ready for a quiet week. A great idea to go for something a bit quieter to stitch too Wendy. A lovely update and you are making good progress in spite of the tiredness. :applesauce: :tea: :applesauce:

I was wondering when the move was going to catch up on you both!

These Mediterranean colours do look brighter than the Welsh colours....but won't it look good on your wall when finished!! :D :applesauce:

Not surprised that you are feeling the effects of the move, now that you have the time to feel it. I love the progress you are making on this design, but understand your need to work on a more toned down piece for a break.
