Bridal Bouquet--framed and blue ribbon

Post by stitchnsew »

Image
This is the first picture I've posted of this project. It's a custom chart ,by HAED, of my daughter's bridal bouquet. It's done on 28 ct white opalescent lugana, 1x1, full cross. I just have the top row left, which is 2 large and 2 very small partial pages. This will be about 15x11 inches with just under 77000 stitches.
It's taken a while to want to put up a picture, because it didn't seem like it looked like much except colored blobs until recently. The reason for this, besides the work being very magnified and close to my eyes, is that when I asked the photographer to take a good picture of the bouquet for stitching purposes, she got artistic, and did a good close-up. But a close-up puts the closer flowers in focus, and the lower and outer flowers slightly blurry or out of focus. Which looks great in a photo because the eye sees and the brain perceives a whole bouquet. But translating that to stitching seems trickier, and most of my beginning stitching on this was the bottom and sides, the blurry part, and it looked like blobs. (No fault of the charting) Now that I'm further along and stepping away, I'm very pleased with it.
I've been working exclusively on it since November, and hoping to have it done in April. I really enjoy working on it, but I sure miss my other projects in my rotation and can't wait to get back to them!! After years of having always done one project at a time, this reminds me of why I now like doing a rotation.

Oh my word, that is absolutely gorgeous.
It looks just like a photo so the chart must de done very well. Glad you are persevering with and the rest of the rotation can wait until you are ready.

Omg that is amazing, design and stitching.

I never really thought haed did "custom" in that sense, ie based on something real I just thought they did minis or was etc of existing or others from designers artwork.

This has to be one of the most beautiful pieces I've seen. This will truly be an heirloom piece and one of a kind. I wish I could have watched this one come to life earlier. How fitting, though, with Spring quickly approaching, that we are seeing updates now. Thank you for sharing your picture!!! :D

Just finished this . It took about 5 months. Now to get it washed, ironed and framed. I'm going to have to experiment on a corner of the fabric to see how it withstands that. I'm concerned about the opalescent strand that runs thru the fabric.

It looks really amazing. Well done (though that feels a bit weak in the face of what you've achieved). I really do like it.

I'll be interested to know how the opalescent strands withstand ironing too, my two current projects are on the same fabric.

Regards,

Richard.
