KarinvdB’s crafty corner
Ever since I was a child I’ve hopped around from one craft to another. My attention span for one craft is never too long.
Now that I’m dealing with stress and anxiety I find comfort in crafts but do struggle a little finding what works for me on a day to day basis.
So here I’ll post what I’m doing apart from cross stitch.
My most current project is knitting socks. I’ve been crocheting and knitting for about 7 years but somehow I never had any urge to knit socks, in spite of my sock yarn stash.
That urge hit me quite suddenly a couple of weeks ago. I then perused the webshop of my LYS looking for yarn options and came across this yarn called Regia Pairfect. The ball is designed and dyed in such a way that it enables you to knit two identical socks with color variations by following the instructions and the yellow guide yarn. This seemed perfect to me, it would enable me to make interesting looking socks without doing too much thinking and be a good beginners project for my first pair of socks.
I had a bit of trouble with the heel but I’ve managed to fix it and am now on the foot part.
I’m also doing a little bit of painting. I have a yoga and meditation space in my craft room and I painted a small canvas with the ohm symbol.
I’d like to use painting as a way to really express myself. So far I’ve been doing mostly realistic painting and perfectionism can really get in my way, causing procrastination. We’ll see how it goes!

My friend knits socks!! She is a demon knitter and has recently started sock knitting just like you!
I love the idea but haven't (yet) got the urge to try!
Love yours, so very bright and cheerful. I don't understand the 'yellow guide yarn' though

Re: KarinvdB’s crafty corner
It’s been a while and the first pair of socks is done, and the second is well on it’s way!
Wendy, the skein of yarn starts and ends with a bit of yellow yarn. To start the first sock, you pull the first bit of yellow yarn from the middle until you get to a different color (purple in this case). That’s where you start the sock. You start with the cuff, then when the purple ends, you start the leg. After a while yo get to another bit of purple which is where you start the heel. Then you do the foot until it’s long enough, and then you start the toe decreases. The last part (also purple, like the cuff and heel) of yarn is quite long so any size sock can be made. When the first sock is done, you pull the rest of the purple yarn out until you get to a yellow bit again, then pull until it turns purple again and start the second sock. The yarn color changes are identical for the second sock, so you can make two identical socks with color changes without having to worry about it.
There’s a video that explains this process here

Thank you! I wondered how you got the stripes on each sock the same. I am a Libra and I do like things Balanced! Whenever I use the variegated knitting wool I spend ages unraveling so that the fronts of cardigans and sleeves match up!
If I decide to knit socks I will make sure that I buy the yarn with the yellow guides!

I don’t knit, but that doesn’t stop me from admiring those beautiful socks and the clever way they are stitched. Love them!!
