mmm... and it misses the owl eyes also, maybe that makes it look like a bat to, except of the wings?

Maybe removing the last stitch on the ears (the one that curves a bit like a horn) and making it's eyes a bit more owl like, and then filling the wings with the same color of the center might do it. Will sit on it, as it's a group SAL and don't want to completely alter it.

Its just that he looks so different from the others. and hard to tell why its August except he is waving his wings to stay cool.

The calendar is great. I really love it.

It was bothering me so I changed the face a bit. I think it looks much better!

My husband googled it and said there is a bat owl, apparently.

Now that looks a lot better!! I must say that the August owl had definitely put me off trying to make a start on the owl SAL but after seeing that you made the changes that you have, I may well have to get going on it soon--must finish up my kingfishers' backstitching first though.

Rose, the lighting was bad, but it's actually dark brown, like February's owl, same color.
