Laura's Little Stitches - Little One (Finished 03/18/16)

Like many others here, once I started seeing all the projects around and getting ideas and more ideas I couldn't stick to just one project, and have since started on some simpler, smaller projects to work on the side of whatever I have working that I know will take me time to finish. So am creating this topic to keep all these smaller projects into one place and hopefully prevent me from having UFOs.

Through Donna (who's doing the Owl SAL) I came upon the Oakhaven Yahoo Group and decided to join in too. I plan to do the Owl SAL myself, for my husband's grandmother but since I haven't yet received the charts for it I started on another SAL they have going on, the Bird SAL. June Bird is already up and I'm late but I'll see if I can catch up. I did January today.



I might go back later on and change the white snowflakes for metallic thread to make them come out, but probably once I finish all months and see how the overall feel will be. I'm doing this on 12 ct Aida with 3 strands (2 for backstitch).

Very cute.. I think metallic snowflakes would really make them stand out! It's hard to tell in pics, but it does seem like how they're stitched now they blend into the fabric a little..

Yeah, they do blend in a lot. Once I finish the rest I'll see if I add metallic or a blend of white and some pale blue grey to make them stand out.

Finally finished all the backstitching on Hogwash. This one is a repeat for me, I have it on my wall (alongside two others from the same leaflet, shown in my gallery), but my best friend back home in Brazil has always loved them so much I finally decided to re-do this one for her birthday.

It was also the first time I gridded my fabric (tip I got when I first joined here ) and I really liked it, even if this one was a small project and didn't really needed it, I wanted to test it out.

I've just washed it and it's drying out, just need to iron, frame it and mail it to Brazil, and it should be there in time!

Love your first one and I think you might be right about doing the snowflakes in a metallic, or perhaps using and blending filament with it.

Hog wash is so gorgeous and cute. I am sure you friend will enjoy it so much.
