Why?? - can Sistine chapelers confirm please?

Why is it no matter how many times I check my order I always seem to be missing one thread colour for my HAED's!!! 3773 this time for Sistine Chapel!!! And I need 4 of them!!!!

Is it just me?

No It's the same with me. I check my stock and order what's needed, then find a skein in a drawer x

No, it's not just you. I have what I think is a well stocked inventory and every color, so I should be able to start a project and replace as needed. It is almost never a problem Except when my inventory will tell me I have 3 skeins of a color, but when I look for it I can't find one bobbinated or not bobbinated even though i swear it was there when I kitted up the project. After I buy new ones it will show up in the bobbin box like it supposed to. Kind of like someone is playing mean little stash tricks on me, but I don't think the cats can do this even if they want to. I think you need opposable thumbs to manage it, and they only have paws.

It's the floss imps!!! They are cousins of the ones that steal one (and only one) sock out of the dryer and then months later when you got rid of the orphan sock place the original one between the sofa cushions or in the freezer.

Is 3773 the same as 407 practically? I think one was discontinued..

Tiff, you are right. The is the link to Discontinued DMC Thread Colour and 3773 is out and 407 is in. (made me think of Project Runway).
Anyway, Emma that is why you don't have 3773 for your piece.

Will it take a long time for you to get some? I bet I have a skein I could send you and it wouldn't be expensive because I could just stick it in an envelope. Shouldn't take as long as the charts take to cross an ocean. How frustrating. I wonder if Michele knows that the chart calls for a discontinued DMC thread.

I think they do know because my freebie does as well. It actually calls for both 407 and 3773. I mentioned it on the Siberian Forest QS bulletin board and one of the mods gave me the link to their discussion of the discontinued threads. I don't think they proof-read them first.

Thank you Carole but I'll order some from sew and so and I should have it in a few days. There's plenty other colours in Sistine Chapel to keep me busy til it arrives!!!!

Yes, 3773 has been discontinued. I've substituted it with 407. You'd think they'd realise wouldn't you, after all the chart was released this year, long after 3773 was discontinued

3773 is NOT discontinued in the US where HAED are which is why it still appears in their charts (along with a number of other US based companies charts). It was discontinued in European countries (and those countries which source their DMC from Europe) due to bans on the dye which does not apply in the US.

You can still buy 3773 from 1-2-3 Stitch.

I've just double checked and it's definitely 407. It looks absolutely fine to me.

I just put it next to 3771 and 3772 and 407 is the same shade, just a bit lighter than 3772.
