He's absolutely gorgeous Niki and he looks so comfy. That look on his face is adorable. I don't have that problem as my dog just tends to knock my hoop when he wants attention! If he did take over my stitchy seat I must admit I'd find it hard to move him, especially looking that cute  .

LOLOL I like birds, myself. I had a parrot who fought me for the usage of my computer keyboard.

   Tooooo cute!!! My Bourke parakeet usually isn't too much of a problem, he will sit on my shoulder for ages while I stitch. My cockatiel, on the other hand will find 20 ways to try and get me to rub his head while I'm stitching, by walking down from my shoulder, across the front of me to the other shoulder, then start back again, stop right between me and my stitching and just sit there, with his head bowed---waiting to have his head rubbed. If that doesn't work, he'll start picking at my clothes, necklace etc   :x

  What an adorable sweetie he is. No way I would be able to move him. Goes without saying that my chair is usurped nearly all the time. Only given up if I provide a lap, but I imagine this handsome fellow is quite a lapful.

My chihuahua doesn't still my spot, but he does wait patiently when he sees me gathering my drink, phone etc to start stitching...as soon as my bum touches the seat he is in my lap before I even get settled...esp if i have a blanket...during the summer I have had to purchase a twin top sheet so that he can be covered but I don't burn up...he has even become accustomed to me smacking him in the head with the frame, now that I have the stand that doesn't happen as often, but I can feel him tense up when he hears me going to finish a floss piece its like he's thinking here it comes....

my stitchy spot is a room of its own, with a door that stays closed. As soon as I had my stitching stuff set up I declared it a dog free zone. Our dog is a 5 month old mastiff, and he chews, I would cry if any of my projects were damaged so I simply keep the dog away from them.

I found the following on ONE of the forums I visit (& I *don't* think it was here...if so sorry, if not--ENJOY!)

The doggy in the photo reminded me of the 1st entry:

What a sweet face! And I like the dog on the frame, also.

My cat will try to lay on my lap, under the frame. This does not end well for either of us.

What a sweetie!! I think I'm thankful I only have a cat that plops down on my lap whenever I sit down to stitch and she's thankful I stitch in had so that she's not dodging frames! :)

I'm glad I'm not the only one who gets to fight for chairs!! Alfie here has a routine where he sits on my lap, yes he's quite a lapful, when I check out my ipad in the morning for here, mail, other forums etc! Then when the stitching starts he gets the sofa instead!!!

My other dog also likes this chair, I sit in it a lot as I'm a bit feeble, so when I do go out both dogs will head straight for it!! I like to think Ellie does it because it smells of me and she is MY dog, but Alfie seems to like it just as well. The thing is, when Ellie sits there she scrabbles all the cushions and covers down! So I have to take my ort tin and pencil case off otherwise I come back to ort everywhere!!

Love them though.

I am wondering is you could teach a parrot or other bird to stitch though?

That is so funny
I don't really have that issue as I simply move the cat :-) but he does tend to want to sit on my lap just as I'm trying to get some intricate cutting done; and of course if I stitch with him on my lap, ginger fur gets into every other stitch...

As we are empty nesters, for 5 years now, our inside cat, Oreo, is like a child to us, as in getting our attention.
When B/H leaves for work each day, he tells Oreo, "You have the day shift duty," and I really think that Oreo understands his duty, and he comes into the sewing room, and lays either under my rocking chair or between the table lamp and rocking chair, til I get thru sewing for the day, then I tell him "You can have the chair, cause I am moving into the living room to watch tv, and start supper."
He only stays on chair til he hears me fixing supper, then he comes into the kitchen and PLOPS on the floor right in front of the ref. looking at me to tell me he needs his food bowl filled.
Then he goes and eats, and gets into B/H's recliner and waits til he comes home. Then when B/H comes in, Oreo gets up and goes back into the sewing room, and B/H closes door, til after we eat and then we let him out.
The ONLY time he wants attention from me, is at 2:30 am, ever day, by waking me up me up, rubbing his head into the arches of my feet. When B/H is getting ready for his bath, Oreo goes into the bathroom, and B/H picks him up, while B/H is on the throne, and gives him his bonding, as B/H calls it.
When B/H goes to bed, Oreo starts his night duty by sleeping in the hallway, between our bedroom door and my sewing room, as I am on the computer til I go to be around 10 pm. Then when B/H gets up next morning, Oreo is on the rug on B/H's side of the bed and the routine is repeated for the new day.
No matter if it's dogs, cats, or other animals, they give us their unconditional love to their masters by doing things that makes us smile.
