Christmas Stitching- Something Different

Post by Rose »

I had the idea earlier in the months that this years Christmas baskets I am going to give cups with handmade cup cozies, ice cube tray and some nuts and mints. That will go along with the cookie trays that daughter and I always do. I found some nice cup that were on sale and so I started looking for a pattern for the cup cozies, did a Bing search and found a great easy pattern. So then all I had to do was figure our what to stitch on the cozy so that it is individual to each person that will be getting a cup. The pattern book that was sent to me from a forum member had a very cute little car in it and so I did that one and also I created a pattern from a picture I found online. One of my friends just love the smell of skunks  (don't ask me why) so I found a cute little skunk and made a pattern. Both of those charts took just one day of stitching so I have them both done and today being Saturday I decided to see if I could make up the cozies. They are super easy to do and come out great

These are the cozies on the cups. The one with the car is a bit small so I modified the pattern and made the next one bigger and I am much happier with that one.

This is the car one opened up

And this is the backside of that one.

The I decided that there was no need for the velcro I could just sew the cozy shut and it would work just fine so I did that on the second one.

These are really fun to do and they do have batting in the middle so should worl really well.

What great ideas you have. They look fab and I'm sure they will be well received. Just one question: are you planning on a "scratch and sniff" area with the skunk design?!
