My Neighbor Totoro: FINISHED 9/21/14

I fell in love with this little pattern when I saw it. I'm thinking of making it as a wedding gift for my friend who just got married --- she loves this movie! Would it be totally weird to add her and her husband's names and the wedding date to the pattern? It's not your typical wedding sampler, lol. What do you guys think?

Cute and a nice start! I'm not familiar with these critters (super cute!), but if your friends like them, I think it'd be a special gift and personalizing it would just make it even more special.

omg my sister and I love My Neighbour Totoro! I didn't know they even did them in cross stitch patterns. I definitely think you could add a couple of names and dates easily.

I shall be watching this with great interest

I don't know who they are, but they are cute...and I agree with everyone else...if it fits the couple, who cares if it's not a typical wedding sampler...that's what is so great about stitching, you don't have to play by any 'rules'

These are cute and like others I have no idea who they are but also like others I think making it a Wedding sampler is a great idea. I think wedding and birth samplers are like anything it depends on the individual you are giving it to and if the shoe fits wear it.

It is kind of an obscure movie, so I'm not surprised that many aren't familiar with it.

Have you guys heard of Hayao Miyazaki? He's a Japanese animator and director famous for anime films that have since been distributed by Disney (like Spirited Away, Ponyo, Howl's Moving Castle, etc.). Anyway, here's what it looks like now! Still deciding about whether or not to add the names --- I kind of want to see how it turns out first.

The little Totoros are done! Now I just need to finish the clouds and sky. I'm thinking of omitting the Japanese characters in the upper left corner and using that space for the wedding date/names.
