Kreinik silk

Post by fccs »

I'm curious if anyone has used Kreinik Mori Silk. I used some yellow in the AAN Halloween Town SAL design and loved it (used two strands). I started another piece using a green, over one on 32 count, and while I loved the sheen, I hated the fiber itself. It kept untwisting and getting thicker (does that make sense?), even when I used very short lengths. Maybe I should have tried Thread Heaven on it instead of giving up and starting over with a beautiful fiber I got for Stashmas this year. I've used silk before but this venture into Kreinik goes down as an epic fail.

Am I the only one to have this love-hate relationship with Kreinik's silk?

Oh, good to know, Marilyn. I was ready to get rid of it, but now I'll give it one more chance with Thread Heaven. I do love the sheen, but what a pain it was.

(side note: I just watched an episode of House Hunters International that was filmed in Queensland. It was beautiful. The house hunt was in the area around Mount Cooroora.)

Years ago, Hobby Lobby was discontinuing this and I bought every skein they had, so I have a ton of it. I haven't ever used any of it yet, so I am glad to know Thread Heaven is a solution. I do admire my stash of it from time to time.

I've used it without any wax or threadheaven and it's been all right actually, as long as I managed to keep my hands and nails from being rough... It's been a while but as I remember it was a pleasant thread to work with, with a pretty, soft look.
