I will have a go. Basically I make flowers out of a ceramic/porcelain mix. I make this up myself using ingredients including something toxic which is the setting agent. Myself and a few of my friends were taught this last year, the flowers can be from very tiny to fairly large and then you make them up into a display such as these.

Or if they are very tiny you can decorate hair slides or brooches like this.

I enjoy making the very tiny ones, roses and carnations the most.

Thanks for that Rosemary, they are gorgeous, you are very talented. Do you just do it as a hobby or do you make them for orders for people? Also were you taught this in Spain?

This is purely a hobby. I have made some as Christmas presents for my neighbours because they are all so friendly. Yes I learned this in Spain with a very limited knowledge of the language so lots of signing and arm waving as well.

Most of the colour is paint put into the pastel prior to making the flowers but all the rest of the details I paint on after they have gone hard.

Gorgeous work Rosemary. I've tried a little bit of sugarcraft in the past and know how difficult making flowers is - I could never quite get the hang of it. You've got a real talent for this.

Sculpey is less malable than the pastel that I use and because of the baking process I presume that it would be difficult to get it fine enough without it breaking when cooked so that is probably why you had problems with flowers.
