Re: My stitching has dog hair in it!

Good idea! My dog's hair (short but tenacious!) always manages to find it's way into my stitching! I usually just poke at it with the needle until it falls. Between her and my boyfriend's beard hair, it's a wonder my projects aren't just all brindle and black.

smudge alert!

The cross-stitch gremlins must have come in the night, bcs this morning, I noticed a dirty spot on the corner of my (bright white, of course) aida! I swear it wasn't there last night!

Regardless of how it got there, what is the best way to handle? Should I try to treat now, or should I just wait ...

Re: American Dream (subversive stitch)

@JA, no don't worry. I respect you for that!

Paula Deen (I've been spelling it wrong, shows what i know!) is on the Food Network Channel in the US. She's this big Southern lady with an accent that HAS to be exaggerated. She's well known for eschewing all the healthy eating trends, and ...

Re: American Dream (subversive stitch)

Haha, yes I think you're right about the Paula-butter connection. I'm pretty sure my mom is not a fan of Paula Deene, but she loves food network and she is definitely a fan of butter in her cooking, lol! :cake:

I'm also loving this because I'm learning all sorts of new stitches. I've never done ...

Re: Sunflower Santa. Take 2!

Thank you so much! I was terrified about changing the colors, but Santa's little skirt/coat just bugged me, lol!

If I could do it again, I would have moved the three sunflowers on the coat up further, but I think they look ok resting right on the edge of his fur trim.

A beautiful design! Your mother is going to love it! And even though it sounds like the colors were a pain, it's a gorgeous spectrum you're working with! Can't wait to see more!

Re: Sunflower Santa. COMPLETE! (and late, but mostly complet

Well, I wanted to have this as a gift to Joe's mom on Christmas eve. Instead I gave it to her the day after New Years.

She still loved it. She put it on her mantle and even moved some cards out of the way. She showed it off to everyone who came by, which made me SO proud! :sun: she is a very ...

Re: Sunflower Santa. Take 2!

The sunflower looks great against the red of his coat!
Thank you! I think the colors really pop, and they look good against the beige evenweave. :D

@rc: ok, thanks for the info! I think I'll do the same and stitch once I'm in the terminal, but not on the plane. I do my stitching on the subway ...

Beautiful! I love hot air balloons, and they look so good on cross stitch! Your stitches are so neat and tidy!

Re: Sunflower Santa. Take 2!

Santa is coming along nicely! Question: has anyone stitched on a plane in recent history? I have to travel for work this weekend, and I'd love to take advantage of the free time to get some stitching in, but I don't want to be tackled by security. Maybe it's better not to pull out a needle on a ...

Re: How do you organize your floss?

I started out so well... I had everything in little floss away bags, with the number written on them and everything. I'm a brand new stitcher, with one project, so it was only 8 skeins or so. "Get organized early!" I thought.

Then my mom found out I was stitching, and she went to Goodwill and ...

Re: Sunflower Santa. Take 2!

I especially like the little curly-q's on his beard. Santa is very stylish.

There are still mistakes here and there, but nothing I can't work around. And I'm being much more careful with my pattern and marking off rows as I complete them.

Hehe, boyf keeps asking to see it; he's feigning ...

Alrighty! Check out Santa's beard! I did all the white over the holidays, except for the bottom part of his coat, which I'm still on the fence about.

Re: Sunflower Santa. Take 2!

@catie: holy cow! yeah, stories like that make me feel downright bratty for throwing a temper tantrum over a couple hundred stitches (and they were all in one big section and all one color)!

Hooray for both of us for tackling our stubbornness (eventually)
