That's a beautiful design. I remember seeing it somewhere before and thinking how lovely it would look on a wall. I'm sure your mum will absolutely adore it! Looking forward to seeing your progress on this one!
Good luck with the parking , although I'm sure you'll be fine. I park in 10 stitch wide columns and can't imagine stitching any other way now.
That is going to be lovely. And remember the only difference between a big project and a smaller one is the number of stitches. Seems daunting at first, but its still a stitch at a time. You've already put in a huge effort in organizing the threads. I will be interested in how the parking goes. I've never been able to really master that. I get confused when its more than just a few threads, though I do semi parking occasionally. I am going to love watching your updates on this one. have fun on Sunday.

A beautiful design! Your mother is going to love it! And even though it sounds like the colors were a pain, it's a gorgeous spectrum you're working with! Can't wait to see more!
What a beautiful design It's amazing how lohg you can take just getting organised, but that's half the fun. Be sure to post lots of piccies and have fun!!
What a great design and the dogs look so life like, especially the black and white one.
Good on you for timing how long it took you to get organised, sometimes its good to know that kitting up takes a lot of time. I am sure this is going to be a treasured gift.

Wonderful start!!! I get nervous something too when I do "cross country" stitching lol.. Maybe gridding the fabric would make you a little more secure in your stitch placement?

great start. Glad that Mr. only had 26 stitches to annoy you with. I don't park either (confuses me when I've tried) generally though I have for a few threads now and then. I cross country stitch basically going where the threads take me though I mostly stay on the page I'm stitching (but will go to the next page over or down if it is only a few stitches left - if that makes sense). And for large projects (as in my HAED's ) I started gridding and now I don't know if I can stitch without it. Has saved me often except for those times when I use the wrong color thread.
I am going to be watching for your updates on this lovely design.

What a lovely design & such rich-looking thread colors!! I checked out the e-bay site & there are definately quite a few there that are now on my wish list!

Lovely design, and well done on the start! I would recommend you grid as well, even if it's just while you stitch rather than doing the entire fabric, on aida it's really easy with a water soluble pen.
I've never managed with parking so I'm a cross country stitcher as well, I have no doubt I may get into it at some point in the future as I have evolved so ncuh since came on tis forum!!
I would go for the pen not the pencils, but only because I also have the pencils and can't make them work! Just don't be too heavy with the pen as that keeps the tip in better shape, and remember that the ink becomes stronger after a bit of time so don't keep going over it straight away.
I had a look at her other charts and saw she has Whistlejacket. I used to make a trip to the National Art Gallery every month (I did live and work near) just to sit and look at him for a while. I love him! I think I will want to stitch him at some point, but will probably get Skitzzzz to chartbit for me so I could do him bigger! But thanks for the reminder.
I just absolutely love this design and you've made a great start . I do cross country stitching for the most part, exactly as Carole describes, although I have done some parking when it is complete confetti city!! Keep coming back here for advice and please post plenty of pictures!!
A beautiful design, and you've made a great start! I'm a cross country stitcher myself. Like, Carole, I think I would get confused as well if I tried parking. You have to do what is comfortable for you. And, yes, definately grid!
