I bought Paul a few books for his birthday and he doesnt have a bookmark so I decided to make him one :)

i'm using a cute Penguin aplhabet from Cross Stitcher (which is copyright free, so if anyone wants it, lemme know) I'm doing the letters in a metallic blue, and he chose the green aida.

heres the P, took me about hour to hour and half to complete it. did this last night but i started it at stupid o'clock so only did one letter.

yeah the bookmark is nearly finished!!!

I had a bit of a mare with the L, it decided to be on the right of the penguin, when all the other letters where on the left. So I frogged it and decided to move it to the other side of the penguin, easy enough I thought. I was planning on doing a mirror image thinking its the easiest option, but then the l was slanting the wrong way. It was slantling like this \ rather than /how it tends to go when you write on.

so my chart has ink, of various colours, highlighters on it to try and find a new L. none of which are working. So i was looking at the other letters and decided on the the straight of the K, as its the same for the B, D, H, J, P,etc.

then I was looking at the T and realised an L is a T with the little horizontal line (the letter are lower case, im just using upper case whilst talking about them in this post  ive not gone mad  well OK maybe a little  ). So I eventually stitched a cross-less T for an L, and it's turned out quite well. Will post a pic tomorrow, hopefully it will be of the finished piece  its nearly half 4am, and i have a busy day tomorrow (well today) of sorting benefits, banks etc out *yawn* its gonna be a long day!!!

I now have a new found respect for people altering patterns *cough* isobels name plate *cough* that one letter used wayyyyyyyyyyyy too much brain power lol

And a special thankyou to Busy_B for all her help, in the chat box. Thankyou hun have some :choc: and :cake: :toast:
