My cat has just brought a live mouse in from the fields, I become a nervous, wobbling mess when I see a mouse, I have shut her in the hall with it as I am shaking. She often brings them in but it is the first time when hubby or one of my sons isn't here
I relly love her and she is very spoilt but I really can't deal with this
Oh, poor you. I can understand - although I am not afraid of mice, but my mum was.
Just make sure the mouse cannot make its way in the other parts of the house - if it escapes, it may be difficult to catch later.
Can you perhaps call someone to help? A neighbour perhaps?

I did manage to shut all the doors from the hall and she is really guarding it, all our neighbours are at work
I know it sounds horrible and I do feel quilty but I guess it will die of fright, I will be able to sort it then it's just when they are so quick at running and you don't know where it will go
One of my cats got a wild mouse once, I chased her everywhere, finally rescued it from her and it bit me!!
I had to have a tetanus injection!
That's gratitude for you!
Is there anyway you could leave a door to the outside open minij, incase it manages to escape?
I do feel for you, it's not nice when you find something difficult to deal with.

Poor you, I bet you won't bother next time. I had left a door open but she will not give up and has now killed it, I have been able to remove it using a scoop and a plastic bag, not nice though.
I think I will need an irish coffee and perhaps a hot choc as well from stash and grab to get over it
If you're feeling brave and kind-hearted, you can put down an empty tin in a dark corner, it is likely to take refuge there -- you can then put a cover over it and release it somewhere several streets away (preferably near a field or some bushes).
Oh what a horrible thing! Come on down the Stash and Grab for a drink, I'll introduce my cat to your cat and Sooty can impart wisdom on how to be an utterly lazy sod who never brings home any animals and has a part-time job as a draft excluder. (Next time he's doing that I'll take a picture and post it, it'll make you smile.)

Oh My! That's the problem with cats I suppose. She really is just trying to show you she loves you and is providing for you.
This should make you laugh at least......one summer day, I came home to be greeted at the door by a VERY angry husband..."Come look at what YOUR dogs DID!" and he drags me into the bedroom. There in the middle of the bedroom is my chair and a half from my sitting room. It's been dragged across the room about 15 feet, across carpet.....but the side is stredded! Now creeping up behind me, with tails between their legs, are my 11 year keeshond who had bad hips and my 9 year old westie, who had few teeth :thinks : I couldn't believe it. They had NEVER done anything like this and I'm stammering there must be a reason. Now of course, husband is ranting 'THEY'RE JUST BAD DOGS! STOP MAKING EXCUSES!" But I'm mystified. They really were perfect little dogs, never damaging anything, never getting into trouble. What could make them into berserker-dogs?? So I changed my clothes, pushed the chair back into position...poured myself a glass of wine while I contemplated the cost of getting the chair rehoplstered and trying to figure out what had gone on......welllllll as I sat there sipping my wine, fretting...here comes the most adorable, relaxed little chipmonk from behind the couch (yeap, the one my husband was sitting on at the moment!), plops itself down with a seed from the bird cage and peacefully has a refreshing snack.......Wellllllll! At this point I jump up sceaming "THERE'S A *&(^ING CHIPMONK IN THE HOUSE! ....and so the games began........it took us at least 30 minutes to get the bugger outside, including me screaming and jumping anytime it ran towards me.........and the dogs laying in the dining room watching this with looks on their faces as though to say "See, told you so!"
We had a cat who once killed and brought in a pigeon. My husband and me were out walking our old dog, and my daughter came running to meet us in her pijamas, she was so scared. I had to stay outside with the dog while hubby went in to clear the mess. But the dog did not sleep that night, was sniffing all around the place.

One of my cats is always bringing in live mice and letting them run through the house, then we have the problem of catching them and releasing them back outside.

Minij, hope you're a bit recovered from the ordeal. I'm not afraid of live mice but when they run towards me I jump and scream all the same! Came down one morning and found my cats (had 2 at the time, had to put Misty, Mistiff's sister, down in Nov) intensely staring at the bottom of the TV stand. Not even food could tempt them away. So I had a look and found a tiny mouse hiding under the stand. Moved the TV and the dosy cats just looked at the mouse running away! I saw that the mouse was already injured so rescueing it would not be an option, the teeth and claws of cats are full of nasty bacteria that will kill any bird or small mammal no matter what. I caught it and quickly killed it myself; the cats would only have played with it and prolonged the torture. Not nice but that's cats' nature for you.
Mistiff is a good hunter and doesn't mind to share. Early one morning getting out of bed I nearly stepped on a dead mouse; he had put his pressie just in front of my bed... Somehow my brain, still asleep at that time of the day, registered that the blob on the floor was not a sock. Still makes me shiver thinking how different it could have been..
minij..i'm glad it all got resolved and glad it didn't send you to an early grave! I am that way with spiders..I hate the darn things and flip out whenever I see one. (i think this has to do with being bit by a black widow once) anyways I'm pretty grateful to the cats because I've yet to see a spider in the house. We don't really have mice around here but if I saw one running around the house, i think I would probably have a similar reaction. I did flip out once when I saw a cockroach run across my dad's kitchen. I refused to go in there again for the rest of the time I was out there visiting..ugh I hate all rodents and spiders and insects.. Anyways, i do hope you are better now!

Once I saw a mice in my living room and it was a little disoriented because the mouse had some mouse poison. It scared me and my daughter. My daughter and I have jumped onto the sofa and I was screaming for my mom. My mom came in and saw the mice. She, too jumped on the sofa. But one of us had to go after it and it was me. I had to get the broom and a very long dustpan. For the life of me, I wouldn't get too near it and swept it into the garbage can. Afterwards, I have chills and couldn't shake it for a few days. Hope it turns out okay for you.
Thanks all for those stories and good wishes, I just hope she only brings live ones in when my hubby or sons are here. She did bring a dead one in and drop it by my feet once but I can deal with that, just
Cat bringing in a very, very cross herring gull via the cat flap. Oh, dear. Eventually found the body behind the TV with evidence all over the living room of a huge struggle. Cat most pleased with self. Of course.
