Bedtime Bear

Post by minij »

I would really appreciate your opinions, this bear is one of my many UFO's which I started nearly 5 years ago when I first started cross stitching.

I need to stitch a birth sampler for May and I was wondering if you think this would be OK as a birth sampler, I am sure there is enough room on the aida to add babys details. It seems a shame not to finish it but I don't have anyone else to give it to, and as I have made a start it would give me a little more time for all the other stitching I want to do.

I think this would make a wonderful birth sampler. All you would need to do is pick the right alphabet (and there are LOTS of free ones) and the right colour. Good idea!

This would make a great birth sampler. Looks to me as though there is room for the baby´s name at the top and the date of birth and weight at the bottom.

As you say, it is a great shame to waste this bit of stitching and it would be more than welcomed into its new home I am sure. People love to have a gift that is something very personal to them.

Oh I think it would make a wonderful sampler. Why not I don't think samplers have to be a specific style this would look great in a babies room. Go for it.

You could put the baby's name vertical down the left side of the design behind the bear's back and above the stocking. There's plenty of room to put the date/weight/length above and below the candle on the other side. For the color I think one of the blues from the pattern would look nice. If it's a girl you might want to consider a red instead of the blue.

I agree, it would be great, go for it!
I did a Lickle Ted for a birth sampler myself.

Thanks folks they don't know the sex but I think if it is a boy I will definately do the details in blue as it wil bring out the blue bits, if a girl I am not sure perhaps pink as there is quite a lot of red, but then red would be OK for either :thinks:

Thanks all,
I have found another UFO which I started about 3 years ago, that was also in a x stitch mag called sailing away, which I am sure I could also make into a sampler, it's a little bear (I think) floating upside down in a red/pink umbrella it's quite cute but would only be OK for a girl, so I am going to try to finish them both by May.
If my friends daughter has a little girl I will give her that one if it's a boy I will give bedtime teddy, as I have another baby sampler to do for august, so hopefully I will be able to use them both, If that makes sense :?
I really do want to finish some of my UFO's this year
