My Own Pattern Help
I have a bit of a problem.
I am about to start my first project which i made myself and i have got the material ordered and everything. I have now decided i want to add something too it. I have the pattern for the main project and i was wondering if anyone would be able to help me workout whats what.
The main project is 173 sitches across by 219 stitches down.
The project i want to add on too it is 165 stitches across and 60 down.
I know I will add 4 stitches either side to make up the width.
I have ordered material that is 21.25"x15.25"
Will it be enough to add on the extra project?

Re: My Own Pattern Help
What count is the material you're using?
Re: My Own Pattern Help
Are you adding the project to the existing pattern or will it be a seperate piece (cut off of the main piece)? What count is the fabric that you've ordered? If you're working on 14 ct, the main project (173 x 219) is 12.4" by 15.6". If that's the case, you won't have room for anything additional (as long as the math teacher figured that out rightLauram340 wrote:I have a bit of a problem.

Re: My Own Pattern Help
the size of the material is 14 count.
I should be able to put it on thinking about it, cause i can spin the material around 90 degrees, right?

Re: My Own Pattern Help
173 stitches across on 14 count is a little over 12 inches across.
279 stitches down (219 + 60) on 14 count is nearly 20 inches.
That means you'll be OK on the fabric you've used, but you won't have any margin for error! You might have difficulty displaying it too, depending on how you decide to do that, as you'll have so little extra fabric at the top and bottom.

Re: My Own Pattern Help
Right
My material came yesterday and i worked out how many stitches it was.
280 Stitches and thats with a margin of 2 stitches on one side and 3 on the other
240 Stitches and thats with a margin of 2 stitches on one side and 7 on the other.
My picture is 219 stitches by 173 stitches.
I want to add a picture on the bottom that is 165 stitches across and 58 down.
Is it worth putting it on or will i not have enough room to frame it?

Re: My Own Pattern Help
tbh i'd want a lot more room either side for framing. i usually leave about 2 inches or more.

Re: My Own Pattern Help
If this is 14ct (or 28ct over two) that leaves you less than an inch on the left and right, and 1 inch top and bottom with a bit over an inch in the middle -- that is not an awful lot and if it is at all possible I think I'd use the fabric "on its side" to put in your larger design and get a separate piece for the second project.

Re: My Own Pattern Help
Yes, you should have a good 2 inches all round then, which is fine unless you want to frame it with lots of room around it!
