It's a lovely hobby; I'm rather sorry I don't seem to get round to it anymore :-( . Should he ever want to learn gilding, tell him I'll do him a workshop :-)

Using gold leaf to decorate your calligraphy. You can use it as part of a letter (usually a big initial), or as part of the decoration around a letter, or anywhere really :-). It doesn't show up very well on photographs (especially not when I take the pictures...), but here are a few examples:

The postman brought me some lovely Alyce Schroth hand-dyed silks! Unfortunately the shop (in America) charged me for the heavy silk while sending the fine silk -- a difference of more than $1 per skein! I'll give them a call tonight.

Please, pretty please could I have a lesson on gilding as I am renewing my interest in calligraphy.

The virtual postperson did. I mentioned on the other group that SusanF and I belong to about a HAED pattern I'd been looking at for a while. Well, Susan sent it to me in exchange for a kit I sent her a while ago. She is soooo sweet!!! Now it's off to Joann's today since they are having a sale on their DMC. Won't be starting it for a little while, but it never hurts to have everything on hand--especially when it's on sale!

Dawn, glad you got the kit OK,

Mabel, when you first said about gliding I thought you were talking about gliders (planes)  I know you are a lady of many talents.
I had never heard of it as a craft, it looks beautiful

Midge sent my prize for winning the Countries Bingo - what a pleasant surprise!!

WITH THE MOST DELIGHTFUL HAND MADE CARD!!

Linen, aida and a fabulous selection of threads, including a DMC linen thread which I have not yet tried. I know they've received mixed reviews, so I am looking forward to making up my own mind.

Thank you, Midge!

But instead a gorgeous red metallic thread from Rosemary and 4 wonderful pieces of fabric from Agi.

Thank you so much both of you, you're really kind!

Mrs Postie delivered a lovely red and white plastic hoop frame from Threadbear. Thanks very much it is exactly the same size as the green ones that I have been using.

No, he hasn't.
I am waiting for Dawn's cow ATC and for a lovely book Nettie has sent to me and none of them have arrived yet. Post between UK and Hungary is crazy, normally things arrive in 2-3 days, but just once in a while it takes them 3-4 weeks to come. And there was one order from Sew and so that simply disappeared. :?
