Wal-Mart closing crafts out??!!

Post by Rose »

I have been told that the Wal-marts are in the process of closing out the craft sections of there stores. The first to go seems to be the DMC floss. I was in ours today and had a look and sure enough the DMC floss that they have is 10 cents each. I have 2 of most everything but there are a few colors I use a lot of so I picked up about 30 diffent colors. I don't usually shop at Wal-mart anymore since they put in the Super Store the quality has gone way down and our Micheal's sells for the same price. There is currently a petion going around and the more that sign it the better it will be for those that still only have the one reasonable source to buy crafting supplies. The old Wal-mart had a much better selection and variety of thing to chose from but even it was being neglected as they started the process of building the new store. For some in the states and Canada this is the only place that is local to buy there supplies if you have a few minute I urge you to sign the petion and to encourage friends and family to do the same it would be a true loss for many stitchers.

Did it Rose.
I wish the Wal-Marts in Canada would carry DMC and not JPCoats.

That's bad news. I hate it when a shoppers choice is taken away! :x It happened when the little local shops were outpriced by the big supermarkets in the UK too. Not everyone wants to shop in big out of town centres. I shall sign the petition for you, Rose. :) :)

We have Kmart here, and at my closest shop, they got rid of all cross stitch last year, Now all you can get in crafts is scrapbooking or things for cardmaking too.
There are still a lot of people who cross stitch.
Have a Nice Day,

I have been to 3 different Wal-marts in my area stocking up

I think it is unfortunate that they are closing up the craft depts. I did occasionally buy floss there. I generally go to Hobby Lobby since the price of floss is the same.

that seems really strange. they would lose a lot of their customer base for that. i've known several people that go to wal mart just for craft items.
