It's such a beautiful piece, and fromthe photographs is such an accurate representation of the painting too!
When you say you would use a much higher count fabric next time, do you mean you would want the whole thing to be smaller, or bigger? (this still occassionally confuses me... ). Could you say why you'd use a different count?

I'd like the whole thing to be smaller - 28 count over 1 would do nicely! (At the time I decided to do it on 14 count because I'm quite fond of being able to see!) Basically it's going to end up being really huge. The roller bars I'm using in my frame at the moment are 30 inches, so it's going to be about 2 and a half feet across, and of course it's taller than it is wide. This is might make actually displaying it when it's done a challenge, because it'll be so very huge! (Possibly not a problem for my dad, who has a big house with lots of big pictures on the walls already, but it would be a problem if it were staying in my, much smaller, house.) If I had done it on 28 count, it would end up being only slightly larger than the original painting, which would be fun too!
WIPs:
Snow Princess and the Polar Bear HAED
Plans:
Twinkle twinkle cushion for nephew's third birthday (September 2015)
Man U crests for husband and brother-in-law
It could be a door "poster"?!? It's good you're able to see the stitches though but I wouldn't be able to manage something much bigger (size-wise) than my HAED at around 17" wide.
Mabel, I remember what it means to have a higher count/lower count by thinking of the numbers eg 14, 18, 28 etc.... the numbers get higher, the stitches get smaller
