What a lovely project, love the colours and your work is so professional, no-one will ever believe that this is your first attempt at this type of work. Impressive. If you have no use for it I am sure there are any number of us that would take it off your hands.

OK. Right. I was finally able to sit down with this over the weekend, and I think I have made a start. It wasn't easy, and I decided to start from scratch (AGAIN :x ), but this proved beneficial. Mr :ribbit: had taken up permanent residence, of course, but I have now managed to stitch nearly all of the first two bands.

Not without mishap, however. I decided a little knowledge really is a dangerous thing... because cutting threads is should not be a problem (hardanger utilises lots of cutting). Usually it's not a problem, but although I could see perfectly clearly what was needed, I did what I thought the instructions said to do... and ended up having to reweave (  ) two threads. Not the end of the world, but :x :x . Now, I think I understand how the designer describes her stitching (different than I've come across before, hence the problem about 'a little knowledge').

I'll do a bit more and then post a photo. Really! But don't go pulling up magic benches, because I probably won't be able to get back to it until the weekend...

Susan: Stunning, simply stunning and you have made it seem so effortless. Is this the start of a whole new direction for you in your stitching? :applesauce: :applesauce:

Serinde: DYING to see your progress!! Sorry to hear you didn't get off to the best start but I am sure you'l fly through it now.

Well I don't care what she said I am grabbing the magic bench and cuddling in to wait for some pictures.

I will toast that :ribbit: for you Serinde how dare he mess with you when you have not had any time to stitch. Bad very bad.

Does she really think we aren't going to sit here and wait impatiently? She doesn't know us at all, then

Here is some :tea: and :coffee: while we are waiting.

Ok, you patient girls and boys, an update for you. The first is to show how much has been completed, and I'm about to embark on the main central section. The main difference between Susan's coloured version and mine is, I think, a sculptural feeling you get. The white stops the eye from being distracted from the stitches themselves. It's very different. The second image gives you some idea of how small this piece is!
