Well done! :applesauce: It's absolutely beautiful. I love the colors that you chose as opposed to the original picture you posted from the book. Very cool and I am impressed that you stitch so fast! I am glad you could get the thread to finish!! ! :applesauce:

Rose wrote: Since you are a new stitcher you may not have heard that you can make a "working copy" of the pattern. When you do this you can use the copy to mark off the stitches that you have done. You can use a marker, or a highlighter, or colored pencils or even just a regular pencil whatever you prefer. This helps you keep track of the stitches tha you have done and what is left to stitch.

I actually wondered if that was what Sara did. :) I never really heard of this technique before because my mom only did line by line and my friends do color by color. I find that line by line is making me crazy, so I decided to do blocks of 10x10 just so I feel like I am progressing a bit more  I guess it makes working the pattern more interesting.

Actually I didn't change any of the colours, I used exactly what it lists in the book. Books and magazines sometimes show pictures where the colours don't look quite as they should though.

Yes, he will be framed eventually, although it'll be a while - can't afford to get any done at the moment, sadly. :(

Actually I mark off the stitches on my 'actual' copy as opposed to a working one (obviously count VERY carefully & don't plan on stitching my HAED again!! I use a different coloured pen each week, so I can look back & see how big a week's progress is :D )

I do the same, Louise - except on this one as the chart was in a big glossy book with horrible colour block charts - Simon scanned it and lightened the colours for me so I had a much easier to read chart which I could scribble all over with my felt tips as I worked!

Re: Sarah's Chinese Dragon - gone to framers!

Post by Sarah Gixxer »

Do you all remember this one? OH chose it as he loves dragons. Well, I've just sent it to the framers so I'll be able to give it to him for Christmas. Sshhhhhhh! Don't tell him!

Funnily enough he was only asking about it the other day - "I can't wait till it's framed" etc etc, so I fobbed him off with "I want to get my Christmas sampler framed first so it's ready for Christmas, then I'll do some more in the New Year when I can afford it". I just hope he doesn't ask to see it again or I'll have to think up an excuse why not! I'll post a picture here of it in its frame before I wrap it up!
