embroidery thread #6187

Post by tarajane »

I was wondering if anyone can help me. I purchased a cross-stitch kit some years ago and it doesn't include the brand of thread used. I have run out of 6187, described as bluish gray.
The kit says for customer service contact:
NEEDLE TREASURES
C/- JCA, INC.
445 MAIN STREET
W. TOWNSEND, MASS.01474
There is no phone number and I need this colour urgently. Does anyone know what brand it could be?

Thanks

I googled a conversion chart and came up with this.
http://www.gthreads.com/dmc.html" target="_blank" target="_blank

That mentioned 6187 as being a J&P coats thread. It also gives the anchor and DMC equivilents.

This is only something I have googled though, so I can't say it's correct, just thought it might be worth a try for you. :thinks:

Thank you so much for that info. I checked out the site you gave me and then another one to confirm. It confirms DMC 3814 & also DMC 943 so will go to the shops tomorrow to check if either colour matches. :P : :D
So much easier when you know the brand of thread.
I only joined this forum today and am so happy with the response.

hi. I'm so sorry for the delay in letting everyone know if I found the right match for the thread I was looking for but have been away on holidays.
Anyway, I went to a few different shops and checked the thread numbers given to me via the forum and unfortunately they are not the colour I'm looking for. :( ...but, I did manage to get one that's probably the closest to it. :D The others are more a sea green and I was looking for a bluish/gray, so the one I got is DMC 926. It a very good match.
Thank you all for your help and I'll be back again soon. Bye....

Oh I'm sorry the charts were wrong :( Really glad you were able to match the thread though. Hope it all goes well now.
