I had one beginning in MS through HS but we lost touch after we graduated. I actually met him in person too. It was neat getting to know someone through letters.
I have a pen-pal I've been writing to for about 30 odd years now. We met when she and her husband came to my wedding; her eldest daughter, who's the same age as mine, is married now, it's hard to believe so much time has gone by.
I also keep in touch with a few more e-pals, who are also cross stitchers; I "met" them on cross stitch forums.
I'm writing to 5 penpals regularly. It turned out that 2 of them love cross stitching, too. Actually, I searched for penpal to improve my English but finally kept writing in German cause they wanted to improve their foreign language skills. So if someone would love to help me with my English, don't hesitate to send me a pm.
