Oh that's lovely and I can see what you mean about the backstitch. It almost gives it a sort of 3D effect!

You're right, the backstitch really lifts it off the fabric!

Its been a while since I've posted any of my work so time for an update:

Finished EMS freebie: Mother's Day Bouquet
Discovered this pattern about two weeks before Mothers Day and thought it would go well with the couple of pairs of embroidery scissors I was giving my mum
Image

Progress on Wildflowers:
I'd made a good amount of progress on this before my other smaller projects took over
Image

Progress on Grilleselotte #2 (freebie from website):
Mabel will be interested in this, I'm using some of my silks on this one:
The maroon is Gumnut Yarns Handdyed (because it's handdyed it is almost like a variegated thread as some parts are lighter than others)
The green, orange and lilac are Cifonda silks.

I was going to do this all in Gumnut yarns but I wasn't liking the bottom bit (now green) in the maroon so changed it for the Cifonda green and liked the contrast in height and sheen between the two so changed out the Gumnut Yarns for the Cifonda colours.

Lovely work, Tracy, and yes I'm definitely interested in the silks :-)! I've never tried Cifonda silks, what are they like to work with? And which of the Gumnut silks are you using? (Stars, Buds, Aztecs, Opals, ....)

edited:
Just looked them up, and the Cifonda threads seem to be silk/rayon mix, is that right? They compared it to Rajmahal art silk, which I haven't used, but I would have thought it's rather like the Oasis silk/rayons, which are lovely and shiny and a bit springy
