Easy Count Guideline system

Post by FatCat »

I have been reading my world of cross stitch mag today and on page 36 (if you have the mag) this is featured. http://www.rseasycount.com/

I have been to the website and this still doesnt really explain it to me nor tell me where I can buy it in the UK.

What do fellow stitchers think? Im only working on small projects at the moment but will be doing the odd big project soon and have been considering tacking the material in someway so that the chart is easier to follow / count etc and this product has me intrigued......

Needle and cotton does it for me.

I suppose their product is more of a nylon thread (say like a fishing line? but coloured) and would probably pull out easier, but the price seems a little over the top.

I use a gridding pen - since I always wash my stitching, anyway - and it is so much less work to grid!

This sounds like it is simply gridding your fabric with nylon thread so it is easier to pull out once you have stitched the pattern. I imagine it has its benefit if you are a grid stitcher as you would not have to worry about catching the thread with your needle. I would say it would depend on the price to really know if it is worth the cost.

I spotted that too, just like gridding with thread it seems to me. I guess nylon would be easier to pull out, so just try some normal nylon thread, or thin, coloured fishing line!

Personally, I've just started doing gridding and use a water soluble pen - less time to mark it out.

I don't know, it just seems like something I could easily do with dark colored thread for free. Maybe I am not getting why it is necessary to have this. XD

Thanks for all your replies. I have to say that I am intrigued but am not totally convinced. Like some of you have said, with a bit of odd thread thats lurking in your workbox, this could be done for free.

I have not heard of the water soluable pen - will look into that.

I have spent far to much on cross stitch recently so unless i can pick this easy grid count thing on ebay for about £1, I wont be buying it just yet!!
