We all know how big this piece is but it wasn't until you said it was nearly as big as a door that I really got it! How tall are you? It must be quite something to hold up the pice of material and see it? I have to say I like a lot of others are really looking forward to seeing you work through this piece and you will have lots of encouragement, if only because we are all itching to see it, five years? No way, you will have to try for a bit less, we want to see it

I love this piece and can't wait until I see pics! There are several from this artist that I would love to stitch.

Another HAED :D :applesauce: I'm looking forward to seeing this appear!
I haven't gridded on my HAED, I just count the first few rows carefully... in fact count it all carefully & mark off as I go, haven't had any problems so far (touch wood). I work a page at a time though & am strict with myself to completely finish one page before moving on to the next (that has been my downfall before, wandering all over the place) :?
So I can't wait to see this one develop!

Well, I've decided on thread gridding... I have already gotten the middle axis plotted out (using yellow thread). Luckily the lengthwise middle line is also a grid line, so that helped. I laid down the width middle only for my own purposes... its off a grid altogether, but i did it anyway so to make laying the grid down easier. i'm gridding the 10 by 10 in blue, and have quickly discovered i need to go ahead and find the edges of the design. less waste of my time gridding to the edge of the whole fabric. i have to finish the line i'm on and then i will count out from the middle the 100 stitches to find where i need to be.
i plan on gridding out the pages in red. it seems like some bit of extra work, but i honestly think it will pay off in the long run. i certainly will not lose my place!
if it helps to figure out the size... i am 5 feet 3 inches tall.... (normal on the short end) and the length is 5 inches shy of 5 feet. the fabric is taller then my 10 year old... :D Goodness this thing is big. She's gorgeous and i cannot wait to start stitching on her either!!!!!

Good luck with the gridding and I cant wait for the start :D Once the fabric is cut to size it wont look as daunting  but aprox 36x15 is a large design :)

well i've chickened out with gridding the pages in red.... all this 10 by 10 will be plenty i am sure. i am glad that i've decided on it, once i looked closer at the pattern i noticed quite a few of single stitches in the middle of a large area of another color. this will be easy to work around with the grid laid down. still working on the grid... i'm not cutting ANY fabric off though, only because the size of it isnt going to be a problem once i have it on my hoop. i will be posting pics to the gallery once i get done with the gridding.

I'm still here... got 1/4th of the gridding done, finishing up buying the floss this coming saturday. there is quite a few of the colors that requires over 10 skeins... and i had only bought one at the start. will be working on the gridding more this weekend also. it's a bit of a challenge when the fabric covers the entire dining room table....
the bookmark is going well, i would say over 50% done with that... working on it only on and off.... circle of wolves is also over 50% done, about 75% of the stitching done then all the outline work. it is big enough to get me used to the wooden dowel hoop i purchased especially for cascade... and i really like the fact that the only creases will be on the top and bottom edge.

posting this made me go work on the gridding!!!!!!

Oh wow, this is stunning, can't wait to see your progress on this one Crystal. I only ever gridded one project ( a huge Spiderman chart I did for one of my grandsons) and swore I would never do it again as it took up so much time.

Hubby is always telling me that preparation is the key when he does anything DIY wise, and I bet the same applys here, that all this careful preparation will really pay off for you and once you get started, you'll be pleased you took the time to do it all.

i am kicking my own tail for deciding to grid with thread.
i may have to put a fabric pen on the list... but with the size, maybe i should change it to a box of fabric pens... LOL! :?
