Sooo, I'm jumping headfirst into as many things as I can - it's all so beautiful, I want to try it all out! I have a small project that calls for some basic beading, and the color is given as a Mill Hill color - that seems to be the brand given in all (or basically all) patterns. During my raid of Michael's tonight, there was no MH to be seen, but lots of Blue Moon. Does anyone know if the quality is comparable? Is there any advantage to strictly using MH, or is that just the common color scheme given (similar to how DMC thread #s are)?

I don't know Blue Moon, but I have used beads I bought as a job lot on eBay, and although they're OK for not-too-special projects, they are less regular than the Mill Hill ones I've got. There also seem to be more dud ones, unusable because the hole is wrong or there's a blob on them or something. So for special projects (especially if there are lots of beads sitting together, which is when the irregularity really shows up) I'd go with a trusted brand like Mill Hill, DMC or the older Beadesign (not sure they're still in business). Blue Moon may be such a brand, it's just I've not heard of it before.

i know both craft stores near me, micheals and acmoore have gotten rid of the mill hill beads..sad..but I so far haven't seen them replaced by anything...blue moon or otherwise..but I wish they would..i LOVE buying beads and use them a lot..

so doing a google search on blue moon..i only found the big beads for jewerly making..not seed beeds for stitching so I'm going to keep my eye out!

Thanks for the feedback - C_F I don't even have an AC Moore around here, you'd think being in NYC supplies would be easily at hand, but I actually have to make a trek out just to get to a Michael's :p

These ones seem to be decent, from looking at them through the tube, AND they were on clearance for $2 for 18g of either seed or bugle beeds. It is a waste of money though if I'll just have to replace them all anyway...hmm
