Making a fan?

Post by megandmog »

It's ridiculously hot in the office and one of my colleagues has just made a fold-up paper fan to try to cool himself down.

Seeing as I just bought a book full of patterns for fans, I wonder if it is possible to make an actual fan? Anyone ever attempted it or have any ideas on how to go about it?

The concertina sheet of paper is about as far as I've ever taken it

Ooh, wouldn't it be lovely to have a hand-stitched fan?! I suspect it would be easier to make those one-piece frame fans (the kind you see in films when the characters go to church in the Deep South) rather than a concertina one. Might be worth looking into that...

Or you could get a silk one and embroider on to it?

Fankoo. I think buying one and stitching on to it is gonna be the easiest solution. :-)
