I've been able to do a couple of hours stitching every night this week so far (one advantage of being skint and having no money I guess!) so have made some more progress, one page is now complete except for the metallics that go in the rainbow, I'm using a hoop and am worried about the hoop damaging the metallic threads so I'm leaving them till I've done all the other cross stitchs.

Had a couple of :ribbit: :ribbit: so had to spend a bit of time correcting but all straight now!

at home all weekend as well so hoping to get more done as the weather is supposed to be rubbish

Are you doing the backstitching at the end or as you go?

Thanks for all the replies everyone, certainly makes me feel more motivated posting on here :)

I'm going to do the back stitch at the end I think. get it all over and done with at once!

This is a lovely design - I'm looking forward to seeing more updates. I don't think I could face leaving all the backstitching to the end though. Not sure why, but backstitching always feels like a chore to me  I think in a design like this that has so much backstitching I would try to get some of it done as I go along, but that's just me :D :D

i have never worked with metallic threads but i do remember one suggestion from somewhere. the writer suggested doing the metallics first because they have a tendency to "saw" the neighboring threads. they didn't mention anything about possible hoop damage though since i think they were on a scroll setup.

another couple of photos on my progress with this one, think it's going to slow down now for the rest of the month cause I'm off travelling with work so will take some smaller projects with me to do instead!
