I had an hour in our sunny garden reading my newly arrived Cross Stitcher -- no stitching, but very relaxing after a hard week and 2 hours of Parents meeting this morning!

I stitched last night, working on this sampler. Hoping to get a bit more done on it today as well. :)

Oh Mabel I sat out on my front porch and stitched yesterday and it was so nice. That was how I found my mistake. I had grabbed the B5200 white instead of the Blanc when I was stitching the wings and it was very obvious when looking at it in the natural light of the day.

I spent about 2 hours stitching a hardanger bookmark for the minister of the local kirk, who is retiring. Although I'm not a churchgoer, he considers everyone part of the parish, and was very helpful when the parents-in-law died.

All went well until it came to the cutting and removing of threads. Couldn't understand why the fabric just wasn't cooperating. Then the awful truth dawned. It wasn't 22ct hardanger I'd grabbed. It was 18ct Aida, and fighting back.

Am starting again tonight... (some really lovely Caron thread wasted, and all...) :(

Did about 10mins this morning before setting off for work. Don't know if I will be motivated to work on it again tonight, I might just be grateful that Monday is over with & that I can rest!! Am tired out as I'm looking after a work experience student this week! The disadvantage of being told I'm a good teacher is that we keep getting them sent here!

Oh Serinde what a nuisance! (and shame about the threads too) Is there no way aida can be made to behave in a hardangerish way?

Well, yes, Mabel, it can. And I did manage to wrest all the errant threads out. But it's really too big... and too bulky. I would have realised sooner if I have been using pearl 5 and 8, but Caron Watercolours covered beautifully! And if I were thinking about a design which just contained satin stitch and cut work without the needleweaving, I might consider 18ct aida in future. *sigh*

Poor Serinde! Poor Lizzy

I did stitch today, finished another square of my folk-art "patchwork" pattern. Will post a picture later
