Freeladys Unicorn WIP

Post by freelady »

I hope it's okay to do this as a separate thread from the dragon...

Here's where I am since yesterday
Image

This small section has 4 colours of navy blue. I found after doing three squares that I needed to grid to keep my sanity.

It is the Mystic Stitch Beach Unicorns on 14 ct antique white aida.
http://www.123stitch.com/cgi-perl/itemd ... em=05-1644" target="_blank" target="_blank" target="_blank" target="_blank

It will be about 15x20 and uses 88 colours. At least it is all full cross stitch, all 16 pages of it. They suggest doing it in 10x10 squares so that's what I'm doing. I've learned by watching all of your HAED's that this system works well for big pieces.

And it is certainly different from the dragon!!!

Ooh, I'm very excited to see this! I love this picture but Mystic Stitch patterns are very hard for me to follow, plus I've done way too many unicorn pictures already!

So I will be keeping an eye  on your progress with this one, looks like you'll be getting on to some more of the 88 colours soon

I think this one will be a long time coming along as I've found my way with the dragon again - I was having a problem following the chart but it was just one of those hiccups when you can't see what you are doing.

I actually like working on the black as much as white. At night I have my lamp on as well as a room light and normally can see it okay. A white towel on my laps helps sometimes.

Thank you all for your kind comments.

Although I've done quite a bit more on this, there's really not much to see yet - it's pretty much more of the same. And I've spent most of my time on the pretty dragon. I'll post more pics when there's something to see.....

I've been working on this for a couple of weeks now and have done page one and nearly half of page 2. I enlarge each page of the original to double size, then work each printed page separately. I'd have no hope of seeing the original well enough to work with. Although this is mostly confetti, there are a few blocks of just a couple colours. I think the result is worth the effort. But it will also take me ages to finish.
Not that it will be delayed by the fact that I just got a a book with garden based charts.....and I need some flower pics to hang in my newly decorated bedroom....and I need to wallpaper the kitchen....

Actually, the coverage looks better in person than it does in this photo.
