Hopefully I can get it done tomorrow, my Bday.. I have to revisit how to backstitch.. I do believe I know, but refresher won't hurt none.

Okay guys, I got a question about backstitching...

Now I'm looking at this pattern and you see a backstitch that goes like 4 blocks or so.. do you do a stitch every hole or do you stretch it past all for.. now the diagonals that go a length of two, I'll probably just stretch those..

Suggestions?

It's personal preference really, I tend to do each hole.

And as for diagonals, again I would do each hole.

And I prefer to do either a blocky effect or do fractional cross stitches rather than do a diagonal back stitch across two or three and have bits of the cross stitch sticking out (I think they now call that sketchy back stitch). If you get my meaning :thinks:

He's looking good! I don't envy you with all that backstitch to do though (how good is it that HAEDs don't have any!!) but with someone like Eeyore especially it should really bring him to life!
And happy birthday!

I will sometimes go 2 squares but it really depends on the size of the cloth. Diagonals if they are staight across I go 1 to 2 holes if they are a diagonal that is over 1 up 3 then I jump all of the stitches and whiskers are a whole different story. Do what you think looks best.

Sorry not much help with backstich since I never do it anymore but I can't wait to see him come even more to life once you are all done with it!

Hi I'm a bit of a late comer to this having only joined the forum yesterday, but I have been stitching for a while now. With BS I tend to do what will look best, sometimes a BS which is going across diagonally three can make it look right, so experiment and do what you feel. HTH
